Nominations Open for 35th Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards (E-Day)


The Northwest ISBDC is accepting nominations through Aug. 25, 2026 for the 35th Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards (E-Day), honoring standout small business leaders across Northwest Indiana. Categories include entrepreneur of the year, veteran-owned, family-owned, young entrepreneur, and more. Winners will be recognized on Nov. 12 at Avalon Manor in Merrillville.

Support the 2026 Citywide Back-to-School Rally School Supply Drive



Help local students start the school year prepared by participating in the 2026 Citywide Back-to-School Rally School Supply Drive. Businesses are encouraged to host a collection box through July 29 and donate school supplies or monetary gifts to Michigan City Area Schools. The community goal is 10,000 donated items to support classrooms across the district.

Purdue Federal Welcomes Rick Hite as Mortgage Sales Manager

Applications Open for 2026–27 Leadership Northwest Indiana Program


Purdue University Northwest’s Leadership Institute is accepting applications for the 2026–27 Leadership Northwest Indiana (LNI) program, a premier eight-month leadership development experience beginning September 2026. Participants meet monthly at PNW’s Hammond campus for hands-on learning, including a 360 leadership assessment, coaching, and research-based skill development. The program connects professionals across the region to build leadership capacity, expand networks, and grow through real-world challenges.

Salvation Army Christmas in July – Volunteers Needed



The Salvation Army will hold its annual Christmas in July Red Kettle Campaign July 10–11, from 10 a.m.–6 p.m., at Al’s Supermarket and Walmart locations in Michigan City and La Porte. Funds raised support local food pantries, diaper assistance, backpack feeding programs, summer camp, and other essential services. Volunteer bell ringers are needed.
