WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Easter

EASTER SUNDAY

“Whole Lotta Shaking Goin' On!"

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

He is risen! He is risen indeed! This Sunday we celebrate Christ’s resurrection as Matthew sees it [Matthew 28:1-14]. There is an earth-shaking, angelic feat of divine power and the assurance of the risen Jesus himself that we need not be afraid. When God acts in such a decisive way, the heavens open and the earth moves in extraordinary ways! What is our reaction to God’s triumph over death? Are we like the women at the empty tomb, moved to awestruck, joyous obedience? Or are we more like the chief priests who deny it all and try to hush it up?  What difference does that make in our lives?

Come on Sunday and find out!

Blessings,

Don

Annual Easter Egg Hunt Update and thank you!

CE and the CORE Youth are pleased to announce that this year's Easter Egg Hunt was a huge success. Approximately 50 children and 100 adults attended. The attendance was a mix of church young families, Preschool families and young families from the community. Coffee and cookies were served, and cards were made for "Caitlyn Smiles" by the young people in attendance. The Easter Bunny made an appearance and there were over 1500 Easter Eggs gathered, including special "golden" eggs which were rewarded with Easter prizes. Thanks, and blessings to our congregation for your generous donations of candy and plastic Easter Eggs. Thanks as well to the Membership Committee for your participation and for guiding the children making cards. It was another great outreach event for SSPC!

The Intergenerational Choir will not practice this Easter Sunday as the Sunday School will be having an Easter Egg Hunt.

spring work day

Spring Work Day - April 11th, 8 am to Noon

The Buildings and Grounds Committee invites you to welcome Spring by pitching in and lending a hand or two (we'll even take a few feet) to help spruce up the church campus. Help is needed with all manner of yard work and even a little housework, including raking, weeding, pruning, and light cleaning in the buildings. No hands or feet will be idle and it's a great opportunity to get some practice in for those chores at home. We will have some light refreshments to help replace any calories you might lose. Please mark your calendars and plan to have some fun in the sun! The rain date is scheduled for April 18.

Circle Rebekah - Thursday, April 9th

Join us Thursday, April 9 with Bible Study from 1:00 – 2:00 in Room 204, led by Grace Russell. Topic: Remembering Jesus’ baptism. Prior to the lesson, we have fellowship time. Bring your sack lunch to the Parlor between noon and 12:15. Arnita Hawkins will provide a dessert at 12:30. Please join us in person OR join remotely via Zoom. For the Zoom link or a phone dial-in number, contact Emily Krebs, 717-805-5778 or bekrebs@verizon.net.

A $40.00 contribution will provide chancel flowers to enhance the beauty of the Meeting House. April 12th and 19th are available on the sign-up calendar in the hallway by the drinking fountain. Please prayerfully consider donating flowers so that we can continue this beautiful tradition.

Young Adults Christian Education Group, the Pathfinders!

CE and young leaders from SSPC started a new group for young adults over 18. Watch for new events being planned! For more information, please contact Ty Headley. The group is currently studying from the Book of Matthew. Come and discuss, come and learn!

Laundry Ministry Update

The SSPC Youth and CORE members continue their new ministry here at the church, the Laundry Ministry. We continue to collect quarters in the Gathering Place, in the laundry basket and purchase laundry cards to hand out to patrons at local Morris Laundromats. We are planning our next outing to the Dillsburg Morris Laundromat! We will update the congregation soon.

Storyboard Ministry

The SSPC Youth started a new ministry called the Storyboard Ministry! Here is how it works: The Youth have an easel in the Gathering Place with Post-it notes and markers. Fill out a Post-it note with a prayer request or hope (no names, please) and each Sunday we collect the requests and pray for them at our CORE meetings. Whatever is on your heart, put it on the storyboard and we will pray for each request.

If you see a request that you would like to take with you and pray for, feel free to do so. If you want to add one, please do as well. Our new box for answered prayers is in place beside the Storyboard. Feel free to place any answered prayers that you are thankful for in the box. God does indeed answer prayers! Blessings.
