This Sunday we hear Paul’s exhortation to the church at Philippi in Macedonia. Like other congregations among whom Paul ministered, the Philippians are threatened by persecution from without and division from within. Writing from prison, Paul urges them to have the same mind and the same love as Christ. [Philippians 1:27 - 2:13] What does he mean? How will it help them? What might it look like for us to imitate Christ?

The Health Ministries Committee invites you to our lecture series on Healthy Living. 

Please join us THIS SUNDAY, September 27 at 10:10 Room 204. If you are unable to attend, please join us on Zoom. The lecture will be presented by Dr. Chris Ryder a pediatrician in Central PA who originally trained and practiced in South Africa. The title of the lecture is: “Are vaccinations really that important?” We look forward to seeing you for what is going to be a very interesting and informative discussion. 

Fall Faire is coming October 24, 8 am - 1 pm!

• Please take time to look at the Volunteer Board in the Gathering Place. There are many opportunities to help out!
• We are accepting donations on Sundays BETWEEN SERVICES, 10 am - 10:45 am. If you need help during the week to bring items in from your car, please call the church office. 
• PIES ARE NEEDED: If you can bake a pie or two, please sign up on the board. Homemade is preferable, but store bought is okay too. Thank you!
• Donations needed: nice boutique-y items – lamps, embroidered pillows, Christmas items, white elephant items, toys, children's books, jewelry, new items for Silent auction, etc. We are not taking small appliances, linens of any kind, books (except for children's books), or glassware anymore, but if you have a beautiful set of bone china, tools, or decorative items you want to donate, we will take those. If you are not sure, please check with Pastor Lisa Chase (Lisa@silverspring.org).

From Christian Education - Did You Know?!

Christian Education offers 8 Bible study classes each month for adults and coming soon two new Bible studies in October 2026! We offer classes on Sunday morning, Monday afternoon, and Tuesday nights and starting soon, Wednesday afternoons. Come and join the growing number of children and adults who are learning more about their God, their church, and their community each week!

*Something new from Christian Education, coming this fall, 2026! We will begin a new Sunday morning Bible Study for Moms! And we will begin a new Sunday School class for High School and Middle School. Watch for details coming soon!

Also coming this fall, Sunday morning nursery for infants to three (3) year olds. Stay tuned for details. Contact CE if you need this service on Sunday mornings.

Adult Sunday School takes a break this week as we gather for a Health Ministries Presentation. See everyone there!

Gathering Video this week

This week our video is from contemporary singer Josiah Queen. It called "Demons". It tells how we can overcome fear, worry and our demons by telling them to leave and giving our lives and trust to God! Come at 10:55 am to view it in the Gathering or stay after the Benediction for the encore!

The Intergenerational Choir

We began again last Sunday morning, September 20th. All of our Sunday School parents, teachers and parents, and grandparents gathered in Room 112 to start Sunday School with music! Come and join us at 10 am, as we begin practice for our first performance of the Sunday School year.

Youth Church and Pre-K./K Youth Church this Sunday, Room 112, 10 am

We will meet as a group and sing and then break up into separate groups for Sunday School. Sunday School is music, Bible lessons, crafts, and lots of fun! Sunday School is for 3-year-olds to 18-year-olds. Parents and grandparents are welcome!

Men's Bible Study - Monday, September 28th

We meet in Room 204, 7 pm - 8:30 pm, AND online via Zoom (2nd and 4th Monday evenings of the month). If you need the link, contact Scott! For the next session we will be discussing Genesis 3:10, "He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so, I hid.” When we feel exposed, when shame rises, when we’re uncertain of where we stand, our first instinct is often to pull back and hide from God. You may not be hiding in a garden. But you know what it feels like to hear God’s voice and want to step away. To feel spiritually exposed. To wonder if you’re too broken, too lost, too far behind to be seen clearly by Him. We discuss why, what does this mean to Christian men? We also discuss the question, How do we know our words are powerful? Suggestions for courses of study are welcome - contact Scott Pepperman at puppytrainer52@aol.com. This class is for all SSPC congregation men and friends, ages 18 and above.

Monday Afternoon Bible Study - October 5th

All are invited to join this unique study. We meet 1 pm to 3 pm, every first and third Monday of the month, in Room 204. We continue our in-depth study of the Gospel of John, by Pastor Skip Heitzig. The next section we cover will be John 10. Come and join this growing group of interested adults, men and women! Learn and discuss.

Wednesday Afternoon Bible Study

Join us Wednesday afternoons from 1-3 pm in the Parlor. We are currently studying the book of Samuel, a study by Max Lucado. All are welcome! For any questions, please contact Carolyn Dorward.

Young Adults Christian Education Group, the Pathfinders!

CE and young leaders from SSPC have begun a new group for young adults over 18 called the "Pathfinders." For further information, contact Ty Headley. Currently, the group is studying from the Book of Matthew. Come and discuss, come and learn!

Spiritual Direction Small Group on Zoom – Keeping the Crazies out of Christmas

Pastor Lisa is designing a spiritual direction small group, which will begin October 29th, and run for four consecutive weeks on Zoom. The class will be held Thursday afternoons from 2-3:30 pm. The last class will be held in person, on December 3rd,  with a special class and exercise. Topics to be explored-the American Christmas Crazies Origins, Special Christmas Memories, The True Meaning of Christmas, etc. Look for a sign-up sheet in the Gathering Place. This will be a very informative, special class, where,  in itself, a beautiful Christmas memory will be made.♥ Click HERE to register on Realm.

Dining Out group - Tuesday September 29th, 5:30PM

The SSPC Dining Out Group (everyone is welcome) will get together Tuesday evening, Sept 29th at Flinchy's Restaurant in Camp Hill for dinner at 5:30 PM.  Sunset will be 6:54 PM so  for those who don't like night driving, Don & Chris are offering carpooling services. Just call us a couple days ahead to request please. We hope you can join us. Use the sign-up sheet at church or call/text Don Winning 717-704-6962 so we may give the restaurant a final head count on Monday September 28th.

Sight and Sound Trip - We are going again!

CE is again organizing a bus trip to Sight and Sound, to see the presentation of Joshua! We will meet at the church at 9 am, on Tuesday, September 29th. After the presentation, we will enjoy fellowship and lunch at Shady Maple Restaurant.Only 10 tickets are available, so reserve your seat now! The cost is $198 per person for the bus, show and lunch. BOO! CE is again holding the Annual Trunk-Or-Treat Spooktacular!

This outreach event is scheduled for Sunday, October 25th, from 4 pm to 6 pm. We will gather in the gym parking lot, with decorated cars and vans and hand out candy to children and dog and cat treats for our animal lovers. We encourage all members of the congregation to come and join us, decorate your car and yourself! CE will provide all of the candy you need! We are gladly accepting donations of candy; look for the decorated basket in the Gathering Place!

eBay Sales Ministry Seeking New Donation Items

The eBay Sales Ministry at Silver Spring Presbyterian Church is growing, and we’re excited to expand this effort. Our contact who is managing the program, Mark Armbruster, has had great success turning donated items into financial support for the church, and he is now ready to receive new items.

If you have something you’d like to donate, please send a photo of the item(s) to Mark at csuf1mark@aim.com. He will review your submission and let you know whether the item is appropriate for sale. After approval, Mark will arrange a time for the item to be dropped off at the church.

Laundry Ministry Update - Loads of love!

The SSPC Youth and CORE members continue their Laundry Ministry here at the church. We continue to collect quarters in the Gathering Place, and purchase laundry cards to hand out to patrons at local Morris Laundromats. We will be traveling to the Morris Laundromat in New Cumberland next time we go out to spread evangelism and hand out gift cards! We have donated 10 gift cards to New Hope Ministries to spread our gifts! Further Update - we were able to provide laundry gift cards to a brother in need recently. The Laundry Ministry continues to spread the Gospel!

Storyboard Ministry

The Youth have an easel in the Gathering Place with Post-it notes and markers for your prayer requests (no names, please). Each Sunday we collect the requests and pray for them at our CORE meetings. Whatever is on your heart, put it on the storyboard and we will pray for each request. If you see a request that you would like to take with you and pray for, feel free to do so. If you want to add one, please do as well. Our new box for answered prayers is beside the Storyboard. Feel free to place any answered prayers that you are thankful for in the box. God does indeed answer prayers! Blessings.

Fall ROAR Trip

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the ROAR Trip to New Bern, N.C. has been canceled.

Feed My Starving Children

On August 7th and 8th, our volunteers brought extraordinary energy and heart, enabling us to pack 26,568 meals—providing enough food to feed seventy two children with a meal every day for an entire year. All meals packed during this event were shipped to Malawi via FMSC mission partner Reach Now International. Thanks to a special one-time grant from FMSC, the event’s $8000.00 cost was fully covered. For next year we have been challenged not only to double the number of meals packed but to also raise the $16,000.00 necessary to fund the event.

Needs for September include: cereal, boxed helpers, and canned tuna. Items can be placed in the bin outside the Chapel. Thank you so much!
