"Feeling Sheepish?"

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

Do you ever feel sheepish? If so, how does that make you feel? What does it mean? Why did Jesus refer to his followers as his sheep? Why did he call himself the Good Shepherd?

For answers to these and similar questions, join us at worship Sunday morning. Hope to see you there!

Reformed Theology Class this Sunday at 10:10 am - Room 204

Join us in Room 204 at 10:10 for the third class in a 6-part seminar on “What Makes us Reformed Christians, and How Did We Get this Way?”  This week Rev. Dr. Dave Roquemore takes us through the foundational Reformed theology of Martin Luther and his sytematizer, John Calvin. What was it about the church’s theology and practice that they sought to reform? How did it influence those Reformers who came after? Bring your coffee and we will see you there!

Blood Pressure Sunday

Join us in Room 201 from 10 - 10:45 am on Sunday to have your blood pressure checked.

Personnel Update

While John Clegg is rehabilitating, the Personnel Committee has hired two temporary, part-time custodians to help cover his responsibilities during his absence. Joe Gingerich will work each weekday morning, allowing him to be available to assist with any needs in the Preschool. Daryl Rabold will work two days each week, focusing on cleaning the upper level of the CE Building. Both Joe and Daryl are retired and are eager to use their spare time to provide assistance to the church. We are grateful for their willingness to serve and help meet our needs during John’s rehab.

Men's Bible Study - Monday, October 12th

We meet in Room 204, 7 pm - 8:30 pm, AND online via Zoom (2nd and 4th Monday evenings of the month). If you need the link, contact Scott! For the next session we will be discussing 2 Timothy 3:4. "treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God" It invites us to look honestly at what we truly love and what we are actively pursuing. What do you love most? What do your choices reveal about your heart? If someone observed your life without hearing your words, what would they say you worship? Suggestions for courses of study are welcome - contact Scott Pepperman at puppytrainer52@aol.com. This class is for all SSPC congregation men and friends, ages 18 and above.

Giant Grocery Gift Cards - Help CE Raise Money for our Christian Education programs!

For many years, Cindy Corbin has administered the Giant food gift card program. We thank Cindy, as she will soon be handing it off to another member of the congregation. If you shop at Giant and sign up for gift cards, there’s no added cost. For every dollar, Christian Education gets five cents, so on a monthly basis, it’s $75 maybe $100. Christian Education appreciates your faith and trust in our programs and your support as always. Blessings

Laundry Ministry Update - Loads of love!

The SSPC Youth and CORE members continue their Laundry Ministry here at the church. We continue to collect quarters in the Gathering Place, and purchase laundry cards to hand out to patrons at local Morris Laundromats. We will be traveling to the Morris Laundromat in New Cumberland next time we go out to spread evangelism and hand out gift cards! We have donated 10 gift cards to New Hope Ministries to spread our gifts! Further Update - we were able to provide laundry gift cards to a brother in need recently. The Laundry Ministry continues to spread the Gospel!

Storyboard Ministry

The Youth have an easel in the Gathering Place with Post-it notes and markers for your prayer requests (no names, please). Each Sunday we collect the requests and pray for them at our CORE meetings. Whatever is on your heart, put it on the storyboard and we will pray for each request. If you see a request that you would like to take with you and pray for, feel free to do so. If you want to add one, please do as well. Our new box for answered prayers is beside the Storyboard. Feel free to place any answered prayers that you are thankful for in the box. God does indeed answer prayers! Blessings.

Earth Care - Did you know?

About 2.4 billion bottles of nail polish are sold around the world each year, with more than 600 million bought in the U.S. alone. One bottle is about 70% solvents, many of which are flammable and/or linked to reproductive harm. Thus the bottle is considered hazardous waste.

What to do when you need to get rid of a bottle:

  • Find the closest hazardous waste collection site.
  • Try to buy less polish in the first place.
  • Do not pour polish or remover down the drain. Solvents can harm wastewater treatments and end up in rivers, streams etc.
