“Our Faith, God's Faithfulness, Part 3: God and Hagar"
| | |
This Sunday our guest preacher is Rev. Dr. Iain May who will continue our Sermon Series entitled “Our Faith, God’s Faithfulness.” This week we will follow Abram and Sarai as they take it upon themselves to fulfill God’s promise of progeny. [Genesis 21:8-21]
What does their decision tell us about their faith? How does God deal with that? What might we learn from this to increase our faith in God’s faithfulness?
Come on Sunday and find out!
Sermons in this series:
Our Faith, God’s Faithfulness
June 7 Part 1: "God and Abram" [Genesis 12:1-9 – God calls Abraham]

Dear SSPC Congregation,
Thank you for remembering my special graduation day (May 2026) with that beautiful cake you presented to me at our All-Church picnic on June 14th. As many of you know I graduated in May 2026 from Moravian University with a graduate certificate in Spiritual Direction. The 14-month course was demanding, and I look forward to leading groups here at the church in the future. I was totally surprised, and a little embarrassed, because you all waited to eat until I could get into the gym. (I did bless the food before giving the benediction so you all could eat!) I was practicing a song in the sanctuary that we are going to perform in July, and I had no idea that you all were waiting for me. Again, thank you very much for your kindness. It was greatly appreciated and that cake was delicious. With Love – Pastor Lisa Chase
Sympathy
We extend our prayers and sympathy to Chad Hall, Gary Karkuff and Bill Moore and their families for the death of their mothers this week. Please keep these families in your thoughts and your prayers. Long-time member Richard Moyer also recently died. You can read his obituary here. Keep his family in your prayers as well.

Gathering Video for this Week
Our video for this week is from the contemporary Christian singer, Jeremy Riddle. It's called "Blessed Assurance" It speaks about how our story is about praising our Saviour all day long. Come at 10:55 an to view the video or stay after the Benediction for the encore.

Fall Faire - October 24, 2026
The Fall Faire committee – a dedicated group of wonderful Deacons, are looking for beautiful items to place and sell in the Boutique area. If you are looking to downsize, or you have things you need to get rid of, we’d love to take a look at any accessory items and furniture, such as lamps, side tables, small sofas, paintings, chairs – and have first dibs on what you want to get rid of before you do anything else with them. Please contact Pastor Lisa, who will then schedule with the FF team to come and look at the items first. Please note that for the White Elephant section, we are no longer taking glassware or small appliances. We will begin taking donations the first week of September.

Laundry Ministry Update - Loads of love!
The SSPC Youth and CORE members continue their new ministry here at the church, the Laundry Ministry. We continue to collect quarters in the Gathering Place, in the laundry basket and purchase laundry cards to hand out to patrons at local Morris Laundromats.
Donation Update - Thanks to the blessings of our congregation, we have now raised over $1,000, in quarters! We have handed out hundreds of dollars of gift cards and our ministry continues!
Storyboard Ministry
The Youth have an easel in the Gathering Place with Post-it notes and markers for your prayer requests (no names, please). Each Sunday we collect the requests and pray for them at our CORE meetings. Whatever is on your heart, put it on the storyboard and we will pray for each request. If you see a request that you would like to take with you and pray for, feel free to do so. If you want to add one, please do as well. Our new box for answered prayers is beside the Storyboard. Feel free to place any answered prayers that you are thankful for in the box. God does indeed answer prayers! Blessings.

Earth Care - Pet Waste [part 3] What you can do to help the problem:
Cat litter: Try using a plant-based litter [corn, wheat, walnut or recycled paper. This reduces landfill volume. Buy larger packages to reduce packaging per pound. Scoop daily rather than dumping the whole box to stretch. Don't flush cat waste or compost it because of Toxoplasma risk.
Dog Waste: Always pick up. Pet waste is a documented water pollutant, not a fertilizer. Use mail-in programs for pouches and treat bags. Look up local options [Earth911] Try brands moving to recyclable bags.
