Stay together, pray together, and listen for the Holy Spirit
Noting that Jesus' instructions to his disciples after his resurrection were to stay together, pray together, and wait for the Holy Spirit, Bishop Hughes reflects on how this is also good advice for us now, as we become the church that God needs us to be at this time. To reduce the amount of risk for COVID-19 infection, these services are limited to a maximum of 25 candidates each. While candidates may bring any number of guests with them, 6-8 is a recommended maximum, not including their clergy or sponsors/presenters. Guests may or may not be able to be seated with their candidate, depending on the church and the total number present.
All are invited to watch the live streams of the services from home on the diocesan YouTube channel and Facebook page. The videos of all streamed Confirmation services are archived on the Confirmation Service playlist.

Youth Minister "Get Acquainted" Summit
THU, MAY 18 | 7-9 PM
This event is open to people in the diocese who are actively leading a youth ministry for grades 6-12 whether they are vocational or volunteer (also known as Youth Ministers, Youth Pastors, etc). Meeting over dinner and dessert, this event will be a time for RMN collaboration and connection, as well as development ideas for future Diocesan Youth Commission programming. Juneteenth Pilgrimage with Bishop Hughes

Two half-day trips with Bishop Hughes, coordinated by the diocesan Justice groups, will visit sites in our diocese with a history linked to slavery. Each trip will have different destinations - attend one or both.

Each team has met to address some strategic questions and are now forming goals and coming up with potential initiatives to meet the goals. Gertrude Butts Scholarship - Application deadline: MAY 8
Provides scholarships with special emphasis placed on those who are orphaned or are children of single parents, demonstrate financial need and are members of a parish in the Diocese of Newark.
George E. Rath Scholarship - Application deadline: MAY 15
Provides children of clergy canonically resident in the Diocese of Newark with extra financial assistance for college expenses.
