CD4 officially welcomed Meccha Matcha last Saturday at their Grand Opening celebration! They are located at the northeast corner of the F&M Bank parking lot at Bellflower Blvd and 23rd Street or the opposite end of the strip mall from Einstein Bros. Bagels. Meccha Matcha is the go-to shop for all things matcha. From classic lattes to creamy frozen treats and of course, a variety of matcha drinks, you'll enjoy quality in every taste. AGPLB Race Cars Visit CD4 Schools

On Wednesday and Thursday, Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach provided a race car and drivers to visit our local schools. Special thanks to Tracy Murchison for organizing the events as she does each year. Thanks, also, to Newcomb Academy, Bethany School, Westerly School and St. Joseph Catholic School for creating the outdoor assembly time to host the events. We greatly appreciate Lisa West and her family for assisting Murchison Consulting at the events. The attached video shows the Garagistic Formula Drift car arriving at Bethany School.

FY '27 Budget Study Session Presentation

This week, we received updated adjustments on the Fiscal Year 2027 Proposed Budget that was presented at the April 7th City Council Study Session. The City Manager is required to submit his final proposed budget to the Mayor by July 3rd. A series of public meetings for budget review and feedback will be held in August. Due to the 2026 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach taking place this weekend from Friday, April 17th through Sunday, April 19th, there will be several street closures impacting the Downtown Long Beach area. Sound Bath & Nature Walk

The City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) is celebrating Older Americans Month in May with a variety of free programming and events for adults ages 50 and older. One event will be held in CD4 at the Nature Center on Friday, May 1st for a Sound Bath & Nature Walk. Pre-registration is not required for the Sound Bath & Nature Walk. Recycle Your Bicycle Event

The Environmental Services Bureau invites residents to participate in Recycle Your Bicycle, a community waste reduction event on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Drop off location in CD4 will be at Whaley Park. Usable bicycles will be refurbished by Pedal Movement and donated to local non-profits. Bicycles or parts that cannot be reused will be recycled. Grand Prix Lap Around the Traffic Circle

It’s Grand Prix weekend, and we annually share our memories from eight years ago when we got to cruise around the council district in a two-seater Indycar. Part of our tour was captured in the attached video as we headed out of the Community Hospital driveway, north on Termino, down the hill on PCH and around the traffic circle. Beginning the second lap, at the 57 second mark, you may see an LBPD unit approaching the circle on PCH. It was no problem, however, because the Indycar was perfectly street legal (in Indiana). Turn up the sound, click on the arrow in the attached video and enjoy the ride around the traffic circle before lane-separating bollards and dashed white lines.
