CD4 Egg Hunt at Good Neighbor Park

Our office was a proud sponsor of the Spring Egg Hunt, hosted by Partners of Parks, at Good Neighbor Park in El Dorado Park last Saturday. Good Neighbor Park is the grassy area with the white gazebo in front of the Tom Clark Community Center. Special thanks to Partners of Parks for organizing the event and to the Arts Council for Long Beach for providing a crafts table for the kids. Also thanks to the Easter Bunny for providing hugs and photo ops.

Status Update - E-Bike Safety Initiative

On October 21, 2025, the City Council directed the City Manager to coordinate with all relevant City departments and partner jurisdictions to develop a public safety initiative and proposed amendments to the Long Beach Municipal Code related to e-bike usage within the City’s public right of way and along the Los Angeles County river paths at the Long Beach city limits. Nature Center Artist Gallery & Reception

The newest gallery of the Long Beach Nature Center is on display! The exhibit features work from artist Susan DeLude's "Get Closer" images taken with an iPhone. Meet Susan at the artist reception tomorrow, Saturday, April 11th from 10 am to 12 pm and learn more about her work!

Veterans Banner Program Nominations Open

Nominations due by April 15th

The Department of Health and Human Services is accepting nominations for the third year of the Long Beach Veterans Banner Program. This year, up to 65 veteran nominees will be selected for the program. The Office of Veterans Support, in collaboration with the Long Beach Veterans Commission, will oversee the selection of banners to be displayed at various locations in Long Beach for one year, beginning summer 2026. Southland Credit Union was founded in 1936, and they are celebrating their 90th anniversary all year long with their 70,000 members. This month, they are also celebrating their 7th anniversary in Los Altos at 2250 Bellflower Blvd between BofA and Panera Bread. Our council office had the privilege of participating in the ribbon cutting ceremony on April 6, 2019 (see attached photo). LA County Property Taxes Due 4/10

10% late fee added after today, Friday, April 10th

Just a friendly reminder that the second installment of the Los Angeles Annual Secured Property Tax Bills is due today, Friday, April 10th. Payments must be received or postmarked by the close of business on the due date to avoid a 10% late fee. You can also pay by eCheck, but you will need your Assessor’s Identification Number (AIN) and Personal Identification Number (PIN), which can be found on your Secured Property Tax Bill. Sports Basement LB Ride Group

Every second and fourth Saturday of the month, the Sports Basement Long Beach Ride Group meets in front of the store. Tomorrow, April 11th, is the second Saturday of the month, so be there at 7:30 am for the meetup, route details and to sign a waiver. Wheels roll at 8 am! 

FREE HHW & E-Waste Event

The City of Long Beach hosts FREE Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) & Electronic Waste Collection Events every 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month at EDCO Recycling & Transfer Center in Signal Hill. PRM Youth Summer Day Camps

This summer, the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) will once again offer Summer Day Camps, Aquatics Camps and Kids Discovery Camps for local youth. Camps will run weekdays beginning June 15th through August 21st. Registration for all camps begins tomorrow, Saturday, April 11th at 9 am at this link. Summer Day Camps are offered for youth ages 5 to 12 and will run Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to register early as enrollment space is limited. Second Saturday Community Day at CSULB

Earth Month New Use Recycling Drive

In honor of Earth month, join the PRM and the Retail Marketing Services recycling program drive at the Nature Center to bring new use to old recyclable items. Community members are encouraged to collect eligible California Redemption Value (CRV) items such as bottles, cans, boxes and pouches and donate them to the recycling drive. Proceeds generated from the drive will be donated to Food Finders Inc. to help support food distribution sites in Long Beach. Find more info here.

LBACS Low-Cost Vaccine Clinics

Long Beach Animal Care Services and Camp Clinics are hosting low-cost vaccine clinics on Tuesday, April 14th and Tuesday, April 21st from 10 am to 2:30 pm. Art Days at the EBM Japanese Garden

Join the Japanese Garden for a self-led art evening every third Thursday of the month. Various themes each month are designed to foster individual creativity and art creation in the Garden's living museum. This month, attendees will be working with pastels and crayons. Community Night at the Museum at CSULB

For Earth Month, the Kleefeld Museum is doing collages using a blank map of Earth and cutouts from recycled materials. Make a collage map of our home planet! Enjoy the Museum after hours and create art inspired by the current exhibitions in the Education Lab. Every Thursday, attendees are offered a free unguided art activity from 4 to 7 pm, and LOUD HOUR from 4 to 5 pm. Tambourines, kazoos, and earplugs are provided to help you get loud in the galleries.

El Dorado Library Chapter Book Club

El Dorado Library is hosting a NEW Page Turners Chapter Book Club this month on Tuesday, April 21st. The book for this month is Jinx by Sage Blackwood. Participants will discuss the book and do fun activities related to the story.

This book club is intended for readers 6 to 12 years old.

A Different Kind of LBPD Badge Ceremony

The Long Beach Police Department conducts badge ceremonies to mark key milestones including academy graduations, promotions and annual awards. The current police recruits in Academy Class 100 will soon experience the formal pinning of badges on new officers at their graduation ceremony. Last Saturday, the new LBPD Training Academy sign also experienced a badge pinning of sorts. A large, 3-dimensional badge was affixed to the sign that marks the entrance to the academy. It is a great looking monument that truly reflects the quality of the new training academy. It is located to the south of the Walmart Supercenter at 7250 E. Carson Street.
