Reimagining Evangelism.

Our Rural Ministry Network and The Town & Country Leadership Project at Phillips Theological Seminary invite you to join us on November 7 for Reimagining Evangelism, led by Phillips’ President Dr. F. Douglas Powe, Jr., as we explore a different way of thinking about evangelism.

Together, we’ll discover practical ways to build relationships, invite others into community, listen deeply, and find meaningful ways to share the good news through how we live and serve. This workshop is designed for clergy, laity, and church leaders as an opportunity to help us to move beyond traditional approaches to evangelism. Come ready to learn, ask questions, and imagine new ways of helping people experience the welcome and hope of faith.

This event will run from 9:30 to 2:30 at FCC in Eldon. It is free, but we need to prepare space and lunch for all, so registration is required.

Book Study Schedule Change

Our online study of The Separation of Church and Hate was originally scheduled to take a 'mid-term' break and start back up in January. The consensus among those participating the last four weeks, however, is to carry on straight through.

So the study will continue to meet on Monday evenings at 6:30 for the next four weeks.

Even if you have not participated thus far, you are most welcome to join in. Learn more>

Reconciliation Grants Available

Our Regional Anti-Racism/Pro-Reconciliation Justice Ministry (ARPRJM) seeks grant proposals for projects to further the work of dismantling racism. Successful projects and funding requests will target the systemic problems of race in our communities and churches.

Qualifying programs will be managed by recognized congregations or not-for-profit agencies within the Mid-America Region. If the sponsoring organizations are not Disciples of Christ (DOC) congregations, a local or nearby DOC congregation must participate as a co-sponsor. Community collaboration is encouraged, for example between DOC churches, local school(s), police department, not-for-profit agencies or other churches.

Applications are due by October 31. Learn more>

These grants are funded in part by the annual Reconciliation Offering, which is still being received for this year.
