Webinar Series Starts Next Month

On Wednesday, October 29th, Older Adult Ministries will begin a four-part webinar series "Older Adults DO Meditate! A Guide to Contemplation with Older Adults."

Enrich your spiritual life and that of others by following the contemplation resource, “Looking for God Over Your Shoulder.” It will be our guide to a different topic each week. An image, scripture verse, meditation reflection, and prayer will be shared. Then participants will be invited to explore discussion prompts. Rev. Dr. Paul Koch, Regional Minister of the Mid-America Region, has been a participant in contemplative meditation circles in earnest for a decade and will lead discussions. He practices daily meditation either alone, with his family, or with an online community. He has written, with other Disciples, “Looking Over God’s Shoulder: A Contemplation Guide for Older Adults.”

Presentations will take place each Wednesday between October 29th and November 19th, at 11:00am CT. Learn more and register here>

Paint a Rock & Meet Some New Friends Tomorrow!

The Oasis UCC in Jefferson City is currently being pastored by Disciples minister Rev. Soniyyah Blue-Key. They invite all local Disciples to their monthly creativity gatherings which take place the 3rd Thursday of each month at 5pm. This month is rock painting! Come build community around creativity, meditation, and music. They will have a short ecumenical reading (devotion) time for journaling/meditation, then get to work with painting so that we can add some beauty, positivity, and hope to the community. Limited supplies will be provided. Come, all ages are welcome. Young children must be accompanied by an adult. See flyer here>

As your congregation gets its facilities ready for fall, make sure that they don't let in the cold. If they do, they could be leaking heat, costing you money, and increasing your carbon emissions.

Improve operations that contribute to a more energy-efficient place of worship with Disciples Church Extension Fund’s renovation loans. Receive up to $150,000 to:

- upgrade heaters

- replace or repair inefficient windows

- insulate or weatherproof your sanctuary, fellowship hall, and more

To learn how you can "go green,” contact your regional Building and Capital Services Advisor Jim Michel.
