CEDR UPDATES:
· CEDR is focused on workforce training and development in partnership with Clatsop Community College, Col-Pac, and NOW (Northwest Oregon Works) to maximize local job skills opportunities.
· Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP). Gave testimony to the Board of Forestry and the House Committee on Natural Resources in Salem on the devastating impact the proposed HCP would have in Clatsop County, including dramatic ODF harvest revenue cuts to CCC, K-12 schools, rural law enforcement, roads and much more. $8.5M annual reduction. Estimated Clatsop County Job Loss- 275
· The Clatsop Job & Career Fair was held on March 15. 650 students from seven high schools participated in the AM sessions, and the energy was very high, with over 80 employers participating.
· CEDR annual awards event held on April 6 at the Seaside Convention Center! Thirteen awards were given, including the Skip Hauke “Spirit of Business: Community Supporter” award to Past State Senator Betsy Johnson. A very special evening for all!
· CEDR is a primary member of the Clatsop County Childcare Advisory Committee and was excited that $620,000 was allocated over 3 years from ARPA (America Rescue Plan Act) funds from Clatsop County, and significant funds from Providence Seaside Hospital and Columbia Memorial Hospital.
The grant committee reviewed the round one application for the first funding cycle and awarded $226,500 to 12 childcare businesses in Clatsop County. Round two was recently completed with 7 childcare businesses receiving $147,000 in funding, with another round in January 204 coming! An element of receiving the funding is participating in a “Strengthening Business Cohort”, led by our Clatsop SBDC and the regional CCRR (Child Care Resource & Referral) group,
· CFEDC (Clatsop Forestry Economic Development Committee) Leaders Tour held on Friday, 10/13. I welcomed the group by reinforcing the economic importance of this sector to our local economy, and introduced elected officials in attendance, including Senator Suzanne Weber & Rep. Cyrus Javadi

Clatsop Community College
· In January of this year, we assumed the responsibility at CCC of the Workforce Training and Community Education departments, and the Clatsop Center for Business, Community & Workforce Development was created, encompassing the above areas and the Clatsop SBDC. Jessica Newhall was promoted to Director of the area, and I serve as the Associate Vice-President. Jason Edwards serves as the Workforce Development Coordinator and Kinga Sanders is the Community Education Coordinator. Misty Bateman was also promoted to manager this past year and has taken on the CWE (Cooperative Work Experience) area at the college.
