Dear Friends,
Over the weekend, the United States and Israel began joint actions in Iran that targeted sites connected to Iran’s nuclear program and senior regime leadership. The Greensboro Jewish Federation continues to pray for the safety of the brave fighters of the United States Armed Forces and the Israeli Defense Forces. We are sending strength to our family and friends in Israel who once again find themselves running into bomb shelters to seek safety from missiles and rockets fired indiscriminately at Israel civilians from multiple enemies across the Middle East in retaliation for these strikes. We also mourn with the families of those who have been injured or killed by blasts that were not intercepted by the Iron Dome as well as all civilians who have been impacted by escalating violence in the region.
Jewish Federations of North America will host a special briefing with Col. (Ret.) Miri Eisin on the rapidly unfolding conflict between Israel, the United States, and Iran on Wednesday, March 4 at 3 p.m. Click here to register.
The security of the Greensboro Jewish community is our top priority and our Regional Security Advisor Bruce Gourlie is on full alert, coordinating with multiple levels of law enforcement and agencies to ensure heightened situational awareness and enhanced security presence at upcoming events, where appropriate. While there are no specific threats locally, all security protocols across our institutions and community gatherings are being fully enforced. Jewish Federations of North America, Secure Community Network, the Anti-Defamation League, Community Security Service, and Community Security Initiative of New York have issued joint security guidance as we continue to closely monitor the situation.
The Israel Trauma Coalition, one of our partners in Israel, has shared these guidelines and recommendations for coping with and responding to this evolving situation.
Updates from our national partners will be added to the News and Stories section of our website, as they are released.
As we welcome the holiday of Purim, we pray for peace in Israel, the broader region, and the world.
Am Yisrael Chai!
