On Monday evening, we'll continue our exploration of forgiveness. The generosity, love and wisdom that are at the heart of forgiveness embody the essence of the entire Buddhist tradition and the path to awakening altogether. In particular, we'll be exploring forgiveness based on understanding the cause. This is an important and uplifting conversation. Please join in.

Feel free to join us at 6:15 for tea and conversation before the teaching.

Here is the recording of last week's teaching.

Forgiveness does not mean ignoring what has been done or putting a false label on an evil act. It means, rather, that the evil act no longer remains as a barrier to the relationship. Forgiveness is a catalyst, creating the atmosphere necessary for a fresh start and a new beginning.

Contemplation of the Week - Forgiveness and Freedom

From time to time, check what you’re saying to yourself about the people in your life. Notice to see if you’re holding a grudge against anyone. Is there someone you’re refusing to forgive? What is it costing you to not forgive? How does your refusal to forgive trap you in the past? How does it trap others in the past? Imagine the freedom you might experience by being willing to forgive. Imagine being open-hearted and generous enough to forgive. Forgiveness may take some time and effort, but over time, it will free you and those around you.
