Weekly Zoom Link

On Monday evening, we'll continue with our exploration of how the Buddha's teachings and our meditation practice can guide us through these very difficult times. We'll talk about the "four karmas" (activities) that we can use to benefit beings and the role of anger in dealing with change. This is an important conversation for any of us who hope to be an instrument of positive change. Please join in.

We'll be meeting online via Zoom only.

Here is the recording of last week's teaching.

Maitri Bhavana- in a few weeks we will be doing a Maitri Bhavana Ceremony to support those who may be struggling in the world. Please feel free to add your name, or the name of someone who is suffering, on this document, to be included in the ceremony.

We are at a time when old systems and ideas are being questioned and falling apart, and there is a great opportunity for something fresh to emerge. I have no idea what that will look like and no preconceptions about how things should turn out, but I do have a strong sense that the time we live in is a fertile ground for training in being open-minded and open-hearted. If we can learn to hold this falling apart–ness without polarizing and without becoming fundamentalist, then whatever we do today will have a positive effect on the future.

Contemplation of the Week - Checking in

As we all know, these are difficult times. The world we live in is deeply divided and on edge. From time to time as you go about your day, pause for a moment and check in. Notice whatever tension and fear we might be carrying. Notice how agitated, or how shut down we might be. Take a moment to take “three conscious breaths” to connect with yourself and to bring a sense of ease and presence to the moment. Then, see if you can carry that ease into whatever you are doing.
