Weekly Zoom Link

On Monday evening, we'll continue with our exploration of how the Buddha's teachings and our meditation practice can guide us through these very difficult times. We'll explore the possibility of expanding our compassion universally, beyond the boundaries of near and far, friend or foe. This is love and compassion in its fullest expression and is what is being asked of us at this moment in history. Please join in.

Feel free to join us at 6:15 for tea and conversation before the teaching.

Here is the recording of last week's teaching.

Maitri Bhavana- in a few weeks we will be doing a Maitri Bhavana Ceremony to support those who may be struggling in the world. Please feel free to add your name, or the name of someone who is suffering, on this document, to be included in the ceremony.

New Member Ceremony- Interested in becoming a member of the Buddhist Center? We will be holding a New Member Ceremony on May 4. More information here. Contact Marchele with questions or if you would like to join.

For a bodhisattva who has realized emptiness, the number of beings to be liberated and the time it might take to liberate them arouse feelings neither of discouragement nor of pride. Dawning freely in your enlightened mind is an all-inclusive compassion, devoid of all concepts of subject and object. Having realized the sameness of self and others, you remain as unchanging as primordial space.

Contemplation of the Week - Checking in

As we all know, these are difficult times. The world we live in is deeply divided and on edge. From time to time as you go about your day, pause for a moment and check in. Notice whatever tension and fear we might be carrying. Notice how agitated, or how shut down we might be. Take a moment to take “three conscious breaths” to connect with yourself and to bring a sense of ease and presence to the moment. Then, see if you can carry that ease into whatever you are doing.
