A growing number of citizens are concerned about the continual rollout of wireless infrastructures without regard to community input – for instance the soon-coming installation of 'smart' meters across our area by electric service supply companies (and for some accounts, also for gas). These meters will add yet another layer of wireless radiation onto our environment and ourselves.. We know of more and more of our fellow citizens whose health and wellbeing is impaired by, sometimes severely; and research and studies have validated their experiences. In response, we are holding an Open House with displays and takeaway materials. Besides their impact on health, 'smart' meters have other serious downsides: the harvesting of private data on usage of devices and appliances, lack of cyber-security, incidence of fires and explosions from the meters, and unresolved customer complaints about much larger bills than ever before.

You have a choice. Please drop by and learn about 'smart' meters and some of the community's concerns. The Open House will be on Friday, December 27, 2-5pm at the storefront on the corner of Summit St. and Main St. in Philmont, NY. Important information is now on display in the windows, and additional Open House dates might be posted. Account holders can call the power company to place an order to opt-out of the 'smart' meter and KEEP their analog meter (with the spinning disk). We hope the Open House will provide the community with the opportunity to learn from the available information to make an informed decision about which meter they want servicing their home. Opting out of having a smart meter installed on our property is the wise thing to do, for ourselves and for the sake of our neighbors, too.

Smart meters are coming as soon as January. Are you sure you want one? Don’t answer that until you Read this.
