SEPTEMBER 2025

HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Beyond September: Standing With Families Every Day

As Childhood Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, our mission at the Michael Magro Foundation carries on every single day. For families, the challenges don’t end with September; the hospital visits, bills, and emotional toll continue long after the awareness campaigns quiet down.

That’s why we remain steadfast in providing comfort, care, and critical resources:

  • Covering everyday expenses so parents can focus on their child
  • Delivering meals and gift cards to ease the burden
  • Offering emotional support and community when families feel alone

Your support turns awareness into action. Together, we can ensure no child fights cancer without a community beside them.

What's New at MMF

Thank You, Amazon

We are deeply grateful to Thomas Higgins and the Amazon team for their generous donation of pajamas to NYU Langone Inpatient Pediatrics, the Cancer Center for Kids, and NYU Hempstead Pediatrics.

Thanks to their kindness, children facing some of their toughest moments will feel warmth, comfort, and care. Amazon donated over $1,500 worth of new pajamas, sweatpants, and tops in sizes ranging from 2T to 14 — a gift that will truly brighten hospital days and nights.

The Michael Magro Foundation is proud to partner with Amazon, working hand-in-hand to bring comfort and hope to families when they need it most.

Small Wishes, Big Smiles

A huge thank you to AON for donating tickets to a recent Mets game, making a world of difference for a family from the Stony Brook Pediatric Oncology Clinic. Watching them cheer, laugh, and just enjoy a moment together, free from hospital walls, was absolutely priceless.

This beautiful moment came through our Small Wishes, Big Smiles program, which is on a mission to create unforgettable moments for children facing serious illness and their families. From sporting events and concerts to family fun days, every outing brings comfort, joy, and hope during challenging times

We’re inviting corporations to partner with us! Next time you have unused tickets to a game, concert, or family outing, please consider donating them. You’re not just giving away a seat, you’re giving families the chance to build a memory they will cherish forever.

Would you be interested in helping make a difference? Connect with Terrie Magro at tmagro@magrofoundation.com and explore how simple acts of generosity can bring a world of smiles

Let’s turn unused tickets into unforgettable experiences. Together, we can spread joy, one smile at a time!

Congratulations to Terrie!

On September 16th, Long Island Business News honored our very own Terrie Magro with the Corporate Citizenship Award!

For over two decades, Terrie has worked tirelessly to honor Michael’s legacy, transforming her grief into action. Her vision and compassion have shaped the Michael Magro Foundation into a beacon of support, helping families face the unimaginable with dignity, resources, and hope.

We are beyond proud to see Terrie recognized for her tireless dedication to the community and her unwavering commitment to making a difference.

20th Anniversary Celebration

On September 17th, we had our second 20th Anniversary Celebration hosted at BNY in Garden City. Meaghan Gambino is a wonderful host and ambassador to the Foundation. Thank you, Meaghan, for sharing your insights and interesting facts about BNY.

We were thrilled to have such an energetic and engaged group come together to learn more about the Michael Magro Foundation and the impact we are making for families navigating pediatric cancer and other chronic illnesses

Everyone’s participation, personal stories, and interest in our mission made the evening truly meaningful.

Together, we can bring comfort, hope, and support to even more families who need it most.

Clay Shooting Recap

Our Clay Shooting Event on Thursday, September 4th, was an incredible success, and it would not have been possible without each one of you.

The event raised an amazing $67,100!

To our sponsors, your generosity set the foundation for this event, and to our Event Co-Host, Linear Technologies, THANK YOU! To our participants, your enthusiasm and spirit made the day unforgettable. And to our donors, your kindness ensures that the children and families we serve continue to receive the support they need during their most difficult times.

Congratulations to our winners:

1st Place: Clune Construction

2nd Place: FP Executive Landscapes

3rd Place: JLL

Lucky Pellet Game Winner: Billy Curtis from JRM, who took home a Stoeger Coach Gun!

Together, we not only enjoyed a day of camaraderie and fun but also created a lasting impact for families facing pediatric cancer.

From all of us at the Michael Magro Foundation, thank you for standing with us, believing in our mission, and making smiles possible.

Hope in Action: Supporting Families Through Childhood Cancer

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, D2D Consulting hosted a powerful conversation with Dawn Dardzinski and Terrie Magro, RN, MA of the Michael Magro Foundation. They explored the challenges families face during and after treatment and shared how communities, leaders, and businesses can provide meaningful support.
