MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

GRATITUDE FOR OUR LEADERS

Greetings PTA Leaders,

Autumn is my favorite time of year. There is a crispness in the air with colorful leaves falling to the ground. It's the perfect season to strengthen bonds with familiar faces while reaching out to new members.

Each of you has been such an inspiration to me. In late October, over 100 leaders engaged at our 2024 Superintendent, Administrator and Local Leader conference. Our keynote speaker, Kevin Gordon from Capitol Advisors, LLC, shined light on California’s current education budget. We enjoyed the inspirational presentation by Jeff Camp and Carol Kocivar regarding Ed100.org, the free online resource that provides bite-sized, 5-10-minute, virtual lessons on how to maneuver California’s education system. The information packed presentation then pivoted to SCHOOL SMARTS, California State PTA’s award-winning, research-based family engagement academy.   We rounded out the conference with details about National PTA’s School of Excellence. Amazing work!

I do hope to see each of you at our upcoming Holiday Breakfast, Association Meeting, and Silent Auction on Monday, December 9, 2024 at the San Gabriel Hilton. Details of the event are noted below.

I am grateful to each of you for your continued efforts to make every child’s potential a reality, while you positively impact the lives of all children and families through your work in PTA.

Thank you and take care.

SPECIAL EVENTS

ANNUAL HOLIDAY BREAKFAST

ANNUAL HOLIDAY BREAKFAST AT

THE SAN GABRIEL HILTON MONDAY, DECEMBER 9

Please join us for our Annual Holiday Breakfast, Association Meeting, and Silent Auction. Spend time connecting with one another, indulging in holiday shopping, while enjoying high school students’ performance.

Our special program focusing on student mental health will feature this year’s keynote speaker Dr. Jocelyn Meza from UCLA. She will be discussing her work with adolescent youth, early warning signs for teen anxiety and/or depression and when medical intervention/guidance may be recommended. We will also have guest speakers from NAMI SGV (National Alliance on Mental Illness/San Gabriel Valley). They will be sharing their programs while highlighting “Ending the Silence.” You won’t want to miss either presentation immediately following our association meeting.

To support the event, each council and out-of-council unit is asked to donate a silent auction basket as well as small raffle items. Proceeds from the event fund our First District Commemorative graduating high school senior scholarships.
