Holiday Office Closings

• The CTPF office will be closed on Monday, January 1, 2024, in observance of New Year’s Day. The office will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
• The CTPF office will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The office will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Register for CTPF's Winter Town Hall Webinar

CTPF will offer a quarterly Town Hall webinar hosted by Carlton W. Lenoir, Sr., Executive Director, on January 31, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. The webinar will offer a general overview of Fund operations and offer seasonal reminders. The webinar is expected to last about 45 minutes. Register at ctpf.org/calendar.

2024 Retirement Webinars

CTPF members considering retirement next June are invited to attend a 2024 Retirement Webinar. These presentations provide a one-stop shop for retirement information, including a general overview of the CTPF and CPS retirement processes. Webinars will be offered at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on February 19 and March 26. Register at ctpf.org/calendar.

CTPF To You: Understanding Pension Benefits

CTPF will host an educational workshop for active members in cooperation with the CTU Pension and Insurance Committee on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. The presentation provides an overview of general pension information including:

• Know the Differences - Tier 1 vs. Tier 2 Benefits
• Ways to maximize your benefit
• Survivorship and Death Benefits

1099-R Forms Will Be Mailed January 31, 2024

The 2023 1099R mailing for pensioners will be sent by January 31, 2024, to the address on file at the CTPF on December 15, 2023. Forms will be posted in the myCTPF Member Self-Service Portal by February 1, 2024. Create an account at myCTPF.org so you can download it directly.

Member Statements Available at myCTPF.org

Annual Member Statements for active members are now available in the myCTPF Member Self Service Portal. Statements were not sent by mail. Members should register at myCTPF.org to access their statements.

CTPF members who have not yet retired receive an annual Statement of Estimated Contributions and Benefits that summarizes contributions and service credit as reported by the employer(s) for the previous fiscal year (fiscal years run July 1-June 30). Members with enough service to vest will also see an estimated pension amount.

Register Today for CTPF's Member Self-Service Portal, myCTPF

The myCTPF Member Self-Service Portal includes helpful features for active and retired members:   

• View and update address information (if you are not currently contributing to CTPF). 
• View and update phone number and email addresses. 
• View your benefit status information. 
• View and download 1099-R and pay advice(s) (pensioners) 
• View and download your annual Member Statement if you have service credit with CTPF.  
• Request an estimate of your CTPF retirement benefit (if you meet the eligibility requirements).

Private Teaching Service Purchases

State certified teachers or administrators previously employed by a private school recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education who have 10 years of CTPF service, may be eligible to purchase private teaching service. The member must meet certain eligibility requirements, and complete CTPF Form 685. Applications for this service must be received prior to the deadline of May 13, 2024. Find more information here.

Pension Payment Schedule

CTPF encourages all members to switch to direct deposit. Call Member Services at 312.641.4464 to request a direct deposit form. The schedule for mailing checks and direct deposit dates through December 2024 is listed below.

Lost Payees

CTPF is trying to contact members who are over age 72, but who have not commenced benefits or taken a refund of their contributions. If you or someone you know is included on the Lost Payees Listing, please contact Member Services, 312.641.4464 or email memberservices@ctpf.org.
