Concours is Back!

The Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance is returning for our 67th Anniversary

June 25th 10am-4pm

The Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance Classic Car Show is a wonderful tradition that was started in 1956 by the Hillsborough Schools Parent Group and has continued with Hillsborough volunteers and car enthusiasts. It is the longest continuously running Concours d'Elegance in the world! Join us on June 25th from 10am-4pm at the beautiful Crystal Springs Golf Course to see a world class selection of magnificent automobiles.

This year we will be celebrating the year of the sports-car, with a new Best-of-Show award for sports-cars featured on the field. We are expecting over 200 cars and bikes on the field including special displays celebrating the 100th anniversary of MG sports-cars and the 100th anniversary of Jaguar. Tickets are available online at www.hillsboroughconcours.org

Parking is free and children under 12 are free accompanied by a ticketed adult. All proceeds from this event benefit the Hillsborough Schools Foundation, The Guardsmen of SF and AbilityPath.

On Saturday, June 24th the Tour d’Elegance kicks-off with the cars assembling and leaving from Twelvemonth on Lorton Avenue. Tickets are available online at www.hillsboroughconcours.org however no tickets are required to view the tour cars as they assemble and get ready to leave between 8 and 9 am.

Hillsborough Firewise - Fire Insurance Survey

A message from Hillsborough Firewise:

Hillsborough Firewise USA is a citizen volunteer organization. This survey is to hear about your property/fire insurance experiences. The more responses we get, the more useful for all of us.

Many California communities have lost or have reduced insurance coverage including many in San Mateo County. We are committed to safety and proactive fire risk reduction in Hillsborough and to demonstrate this to the insurance industry. All survey information collected will remain confidential.

Click here to take the quick, 2 minute Google Forms survey (no sign-in required).

If you have any questions about the survey or Firewise, please contact us at firewise@hillsborough.net.

Local and County Updates

Clear Out Household Hazardous Waste!

The County has posted May and June household hazardous waste collection events. All San Mateo County residents (no business waste) are welcome to bring their household hazardous waste to any event. Appointments are required - click here to book an appointment and review event rules and acceptable materials.

Note: If residents have paint, batteries, fluorescent lights, or used motor oil and filters only, these materials can be dropped off at the Shoreway Public Recycling Center or other convenient drop-off sites.

National Library Week 2023 spans from April 23rd to the 29th. The theme for 2023 is There's More to the Story. San Mateo Public Library and its Foundation want to turn this annual event into a community wide celebration. This year we kick off what we hope will become an annual week-long arts and culture festival and destination event for the mid-Peninsula. Inspired by the richness that our Public Library makes accessible, programming is designed to generate curiosity, creativity, and connection across generations.

Visit www.sanmateocelebrates.com for a full list of events througout the week.

Get Paid to Replace Your Lawn

A free program on May 3 will explain what’s involved in replacing your lawn with water-efficient landscaping and how you can qualify for rebates to replace your lawn and create a rain garden. You’ll also learn why artificial lawns are not a planet-friendly solution. It will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Burlingame Community Center at 850 Burlingame Ave. in Burlingame.

Admission is free, but preregistration is required at https://tinyurl.com/ReplaceLawn. This program is cosponsored by Burlingame’s Department of Parks and Recreation.

BAWSCA’s “Lawn Be Gone” program offers a rebate of up to $4 per square foot, depending on your city, and up to $500 per household for lawns that are replaced with drought-tolerant landscaping. Adding a rain garden to your project can add a rebate of up to $300. Enrolling in BAWSCA’s Smart Irrigation Controller program qualifies you for a discount on the Rachio 3 sprinkler controller. Click on your city to see which rebates you are eligible for on this map: https://bawsca.org/conserve/rebates.
