Hillsborough Little League - Taiwan Scrimmage

Hillsborough Little League will be hosting an all-star team from Taiwan on July 5th for a scrimmage.  We would like to invite the Hillsborough community to come out and support what will be a great opportunity for cultural exchange using the increasingly international game of baseball.  Taiwan has a had a long history of sending teams to the Little league World Series, and this program has produced multiple participants.  We will have local officials, media representatives and the snack shack will be open!  We hosted a similar event in 2018, and it was a great time for all involved.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 5:00pm and the first pitch at 5:30pm.  Hope to see you out at District field (300 El Cerrito Avenue)!

CCFD Updates

You Can Reduce the Risk of Wildfire

Central County Fire Department encourages residents to create a wildfire resistive community by taking actions to reduce any hazards that may be present on their property. Even if you are not required a Vegetation Management inspection this year, we are asking for your help to protect your property by taking simple steps that will stop or slow the spread of fire to your home and the surrounding community.

DO YOUR PART AND GET STARTED TODAY: Remove dry grass, dead trees and brush, fallen leaves, branches, vegetative debris and other flammable materials on your property. Replace where needed with well-maintained and watered, drought-tolerant, fire resistive plants. It is recommended to use hardscaping such as rocks and pavers in the area directly around your home for the first 5 feet. Plants in this area should be fire and resistive and maintained.  All vegetation should be maintained to create proper spacing between plants, shrubs, trees, and tree canopies.

All fires start small and arise out of three ingredients: fuel, heat, and oxygen. Oxygen is readily available in the air, so that leaves fuel and heat. Fuel is anything that will burn, including leaves, brush, grass, trees and even houses. The dryer the fuel, the more easily it burns. The last component — heat — burns the fuel and desiccates, or dries up, the surrounding area as the fire spreads.
