March 5, 2024 Primary Election – Your Vote Counts!


The Tuesday, March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election is approaching. You may cast your ballot via a ballot drop box, by mail, or vote in person:


Drop off your Ballot BEFORE 8:00 p.m. on Election Day


Drop your ballot in any County Elections Office 24/7 outdoor ballot drop box before 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Locations include:

  • Town of Hillsborough Parking Lot (next to mailbox – pictured above), 1600 Floribunda Avenue (Drive Up Accessible)
  • Burlingame City Hall, 501 Primrose Road (Walk-Up Only)
  • San Mateo County Elections Office, 40 Tower Road, San Mateo (Drive Up Accessible)


Drop off your ballot at any ballot drop box or voting location before 8:00 p.m. on Election Day and it will be counted. For a complete list of County ballot drop box locations: https://www.smcacre.org/elections/vote-center-and-ballot-drop-box-lookup.


Mail your Ballot

You do not need to place a stamp on the ballot return envelope. The postage has been paid by the County Elections Office. Ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by the County by March 12.


Vote in Person (Vote Early or on Election Day)

  • Vote in person at Hillsborough Town Hall, 1600 Floribunda Avenue: Saturday, March 2 through Monday, March 4: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Election Day, Tuesday, March 5: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.


To vote in person at another location in the County: https://www.smcacre.org/VoteCenters


After you vote, track your Ballot

Track your ballot at wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov. You can sign up to be notified when your ballot is received by the post office, received by the County, and counted.


Questions about voter registration, your ballot, and the voting process can be directed to the County’s Election Office at registrar@smcacre.org or by phone at (650) 312-5222. Alternatively, you may contact Hillsborough City Clerk Lisa Natusch at lnatusch@hillsborough.net or (650) 375-7421 for additional assistance.

Register for HCSD Kindergarten Tours

Tuesday, March 12th, 8:45-9:45 AM

North, South, and West Elementary Schools will be hosting informational tours for prospective Kindergarten parents and guardians. Hillsborough Student Wins Sustainable San Mateo County's (SSMC) First Ever Youth Sustainability Award

SSMC’s first Youth Sustainability Award will go to Kayla Ling of Hillsborough. Just 15 years old, this remarkable sophomore at The Nueva School is making waves in the areas of environmental advocacy and social justice through her passion for video storytelling. Kayla has led and co-leads several environmental and climate clubs, organizes climate rallies and an annual youth environmental film festival, has set up social justice and eco-workshops at her school, volunteers as a photographer for local nonprofits and is an award-winning filmmaker. Check out her No Waste Nation social media project and her award-winning National Geographic Slingshot Challenge short film. She resides in Hillsborough.

Stay Storm Ready with Sandbags


The Town provides sandbags on a self-serve basis, day or night, at the Town Hall Walnut parking lot. Sandbags will also be available for pickup at the Public Works Corporation Yard at 1320 La Honda Road during normal Town business hours.

Hillsborough Youth Commission Hosts Fentanyl Awareness Day


The Hillsborough Youth Commission (HYC) is planning Hillsborough Fentanyl Awareness Day on Saturday morning, April 27, 2024, at Crocker Middle School. A priority of the HYC is to raise awareness in our teens and parents of the dangers of inadvertent fentanyl poisoning and how to save lives with Narcan. The HYC is partnering with Senator Josh Becker. Speakers include Nancy Magee, Superintendent of San Mateo Schools, Elizabeth Walker, mom of Colin Walker, Colin Walker Memorial Foundation, and Supervising Inspector Christopher Smith, Hillsborough Police Department.
