From Diagnosis to Hope: Kayla's Motherhood Journey

Kayla Weaver, a mother of two young sons, joined Santa Maria’s Every Child Succeeds (ECS) program, which provides home visiting services for families to optimize child health and development. Kayla worked with ECS family support workers to develop parenting skills, improve child health, and create a nurturing home environment. Santa Maria helped her obtain benefits, including free diapers, and get her sons medical diagnoses through Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Now Kayla and her oldest son, Daylin, are transitioning to Santa Maria’s Promoting Our Preschoolers (POP) program, where they work with a family advocate to ensure that Daylin is ready for kindergarten. Kayla also improved herself by obtaining a high school diploma, getting her car fixed, and is working on her application to start school for mortuary science. Block Party

On April 6, 2023, Santa Maria Community Services threw a neighborhood block party that brought East Price Hill to life! The air was filled with the sweet sounds of live music that got everyone grooving. Even though it was a cool day, everyone enjoyed shaved ice from Lindsey's. Santa Maria’s Block Party was a massive success thanks to the support and services offered by various local organizations including BLOC Ministries, Ladies of Leadership, SORTA/Metro, The IDEA Public School of Price Hill, and Refresh Collective, among others. Santa Maria’s program participants showcased their entrepreneurial spirit with the Samurai Sweets booth selling out in a matter of minutes! The 5th/3rd Financial eBus served over 65 people, assisting them in achieving their financial goals. The neighborhood block party was an exceptional day of laughter, fun, and community engagement in Price Hill.
