To our community,

Today, I'm thrilled to share with you our new initiative with Rio Rancho Public Schools, which aimed to help ignite student interest in reading and promote childhood literacy.

Second graders from across the district participated in this new reading challenge, and our Intel volunteers also got involved, helping to assemble bikes for students with the most time read in their class!

Collaborating with the district on this initiative has been incredibly exciting, and I’m so happy to share the results with you.

Intel and RRPS collaborate on new reading initiative

To help encourage childhood literacy and inspire a lifelong love for reading, we recently teamed up with Rio Rancho Public Schools on a new reading initiative, titled “Reading for Miles”.

Reading for Miles kicked off in March, also known as National Reading Month, and challenged each second grader across the district’s 12 elementary schools to read, log their reading time, and strive to win a prize: a new bike, given by the district and assembled by nearly 40 Intel New Mexico volunteers earlier this year.

By the end of the month, participating students logged more than 300,000 minutes of reading. We’re proud to work with Rio Rancho Public Schools on this initiative, and we're excited to see and share the impacts from Reading for Miles!

“The Intel Reading for Miles Challenge was not only fun for students, but also motivated students to develop the ‘habit of reading’, so critical for future success. We appreciate Intel's continued dedication to students in Rio Rancho.”

Intel New Mexico Honored as a Corporate Giver at Albuquerque Business First’s 2023 Philanthropy Awards

In March, we were honored to be recognized by Albuquerque Business First as a Corporate Giver at their 2023 Philanthropy Awards. These awards recognized nonprofits, nonprofit boards, and corporate givers supporting New Mexico and New Mexicans.

It is an Intel value to be an asset to our community, and we know at Intel that our success relies on the success of our community. We were excited to be recognized by Albuquerque Business First, and we’re committed to continuing to support our community and the state we all call home.

Intel Supports NMSU Foundation’s Shaping the Future in STEM Program

Intel was proud to support the New Mexico State University (NMSU) Foundation’s Shaping the Future in STEM Program, which will support the work with student career mentoring and advising. This work will enable students to become more employable through internships and other programming that results in better retention of engineering majors who are people of color.

At Intel, we believe that current and future workforces should reflect the makeup of our nation. Guided by our RISE Goals, we’re proud to invest in, support, and collaborate on initiatives that help pave pathways into the technology industry.

We are thrilled to support this program at NMSU as it aims to enable career-based resources that meet students where they are, laying a strong foundation that can build the skills and confidence to launch a life of learning, career success, and contributions to society.
