NET Connect from GLLM

January 2025

Dear Partners in Ministry,

Welcome to NET Connect, the monthly newsletter designed to bridge the gap between your congregation and the diverse opportunities offered by Green Lake Lutheran Ministries (GLLM).

Whether you're a pastor, youth worker, children's ministry director, or a dedicated volunteer, this newsletter is your go-to resource for staying informed and engaged with the vibrant programs and initiatives at GLLM.

It's all about giving you the tools you need to create places where everyone can meet Jesus through a supportive community.

If you have any questions or if you are interested in learning more about how we can connect you to the ministries of GLLM, please do not hesitate to contact us. Just reply to this email and I can direct you to the information you're curious about.

Peace.

From the GLLM Program Team

Summer 2025 is coming soon!

If you have a block reserved for your congregation, keep encouraging your campers and families to register as these blocks are released January 16. This ensures they secure a spot with your group. Questions, contact Janel Skindelien in our office at camp@gllm.org or 320-796-2181.

Serve Boldly in 2025 & 2026!

It's not too late to plan a trip in 2025 but locations and dates are limited! Reach out to Sara Jonasen, Director of Serve Boldly TODAY for more info!

It may seem like it, but it's not too early to start thinking about 2026! We'll announce trip locations for NEXT summer in January at the ELCA Youth Ministry Network Extravaganza and at our website and socials!

We still have openings for Day Camp the weeks of

  • June 8
  • June 22
  • July 6
  • July 20
  • August 3

Day Camp Weeks Available

Our Day Camp teams travel to new locations each week and provide a unique experience to campers in Pre-K through 6th grades! We provide a team of highly trained staff and a dynamic program consisting of Bible studies, worship, music, crafts, and games that will highlight the life-changing love of Jesus!

Your congregation provides the location, shares the opportunity with youth and provides volunteers to support the program!

Contact Sam Johnson with any questions you have!

Spring Programmed Retreats

Among the programmed retreats coming up the first part of next year are TWO retreats for Youth! We encourage congregations to bring groups of youth to retreats! We ask that each church bring a chaperone that can be housed in each cabin based on your congregations required ratios - 1 chaperone to 8 youth.

Chaperones for youth retreats attend free of charge but do have to register!

Interested in staying 1 more night after the programmed retreat? Please reach out to us at 320-796-2181 to extend your stay. Please note that no programming will be available for extended stays. Chaperones from your congregation should be made available for rooming.

From the Development Team

Our Development Team has worked hard to finish the year strong and is excited for plans in the new year!

  • Congregations should have gotten a letter in the mail in December with a Congregational Annual Report for your use where relevant as well as an update on your congregation's mission support in 2024. As you look through the information, please don’t hesitate to reach out with your questions.
  • We are working on a wish list and giving catalog of ways in which groups in your congregation can support GLLM ministries. We'll be sharing this with WELCA and other groups at the beginning of the new year!
  • Attention all quilters and supporters of our annual Quilt Auction - the event has been moved up by one week due to a scheduling conflict with our beloved auctioneers. Mark your calendars for the new Quilt Auction weekend on July 11-12, 2025.

From the Hospitality Team

We are delighted to share that our Hospitality Team has some fantastic opportunities available, and we wanted to extend an invitation your way.

  • We have openings in our retreat facilities this spring and summer, providing a wonderful opportunity for individuals or groups to experience our facilities.
  • The Village at Shores of St. Andrew is the perfect destination for your next retreat or gathering. Immerse yourself in the beauty of our newly renovated facility and enjoy the exceptional amenities that will elevate your retreat experience to new heights.
  • In addition, we have opportunities at our Camp House location for retreats in the months of August and September, offering the perfect chance for congregational groups to retreat and enjoy the North Shore.
  • We are hiring a Housekeeping Specialist to join our dedicated team. This role offers the chance to play a vital part in creating a warm and welcoming environment for all our guests and is based out of our Spicer & New London locations.

Other Important Updates

The GLLM Annual Meeting will be held Tuesday Feb 11, 2025. We'll send information to congregations in the coming weeks!

Please know that you are in our prayers as partners in ministry! Your extra efforts and dedication as we celebrate this extraordinary gift of the birth of Jesus and the passing of another year are deeply appreciated - thank you for all you do to care for this church community and for being a great partner in ministry!
