October 2026 Spotlight:

Youth Advisory Council

When I visit schools across San Joaquin County, I have the privilege of meeting students of all ages, backgrounds, and interests. Many of these students will grow up to be future leaders.

In many ways, they have already started. Students across the county are already making a difference in their schools and communities every day. These are students with the passion, aptitude, and calling to make a difference.

I am excited to share that some of these student leaders have seats on my inaugural San Joaquin County Superintendent's Youth Advisory Council. These council members interviewed for their positions on the council over the summer. Since then, we have met regularly to discuss issues and concerns that matter most to students in our county schools.

In addition to focusing on the issues that they choose, these founding members are helping define what the Youth Advisory Council will be this year and for many years to come.

From what I’ve already seen from these leaders, I am confident that the future of San Joaquin County will be in good hands.

I am proud to introduce the founding members of the San Joaquin County Superintendent’s Youth Advisory Council:
