The event begins on April 15 in the afternoon with the BFG Vendor Expo, which extends through that evening. General sessions, workshops, and networking activities will continue all day on the 16th and 17th, culminating in an Awards Gala on the evening of April 17. The website offers a general agenda; more details on brand-specific meetings and workshops will be available soon.

Each year, the annual convention is the cornerstone event for our brand. From learning the newest brand updates, getting industry tips and innovations, sharing best practices across franchisees, and reconnecting with fellow franchise owners, these three days will be packed with quality content and new ways to advance your business’ performance. 

This year’s conference in Orlando will include the COOL-BINZ, HOODZ, redbox+ Dumpsters, Safer Home Services, The Patch Boys, and Z PLUMBERZ franchise brands from BFG. Franchise owners can connect with potential referral sources across the group and work to drive new business to each other.

Winter Survival Roundtable

Wintertime in the northern United States can bring additional challenges for business owners. Between the increased maintenance requirements for equipment and lower demand for services, getting through wintertime can be difficult. 

You’ve told us before that you learn a lot by chatting with other franchisees to solve everyday problems, so we have set up a Roundtable to address these wintertime challenges, and found some new resources to support you as well. 

1. On Friday, November 10, 2023 at 3 p.m. EST, redbox+ Dumpsters will host a “Wintertime Survival Roundtable” via Zoom. This roundtable will give franchisees the opportunity to collaborate and share wintertime best practices with other franchisees. The roundtable will be moderated by a member of the home office staff, but there will be no presentations from us. This is a great chance for franchisees to learn directly from other franchisees who are impacted by the effects of winter. 2. In addition to this year’s roundtable, we were able to obtain a document from Kenworth entitled “Tips for Preparing Your redbox+ Dumpsters Truck for Winter Use.” This document is full of useful information to help you keep your most expensive piece(s) of equipment running well throughout the winter months.  Download your copy of the document here. 
3. Just this week, Fleet Maintenance magazine published an article entitled “Preparation Pays: Winterizing Best Practices.” The article contains tips for preparing all of the systems of your truck for wintertime. Read the article by clicking here.

Shift Gears for a Rewarding Career

If you're looking to hire CDL drivers, but having no luck finding them, this program may help.

The Military Skills Test Waiver Program, offered through the FMSCA, allows drivers with two years' experience safely operating heavy military vehicles to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) without taking the driving test (skills test).

This program is available in every state. To date, more than 40,000 service members and veterans have taken advantage of this waiver program.

Military personnel can use the skills test waiver if they are currently licensed and are or were employed within the past year (12 months) in a military position requiring the operation of a military motor vehicle equivalent to a commercial motor vehicle.

Or, if you can verify that someone you want to hire was a military driver specifically, you might be able to have them participate in the Even Exchange Program. This program allows qualified military drivers to be exempt from the knowledge test for obtaining a commercial driver's license (CDL). When used with the Military Skills Test Waiver, this allows a driver to exchange a military license for a CDL.

Attention Kenworth T480 Owners and

You can remove the pre-cleaner filter to your air filter

without voiding the warranty!

In fact, due to our direct requests and ongoing problems, Kenworth is no longer placing the pre-cleaner filter in their new T480s.

Kenworth does recommend, however, that you pay close attention to the intake filter box and clean it regularly.

On a related note, the spare pre-cleaner assemblies were mailed. If you have not received one yet, you should shortly. If you do not receive one, please let Steve Jahner know.
