This week marks the halfway point of the 2025 Legislative Session. At the session's halfway mark, several bills have passed in either the House or Senate. However, none have cleared both chambers. This pace lags behind previous years; by this point in 2024, 12 bills had passed both chambers, while in 2023, lawmakers had approved 19 bills.
Several initiatives have cleared one chamber, including Senate President Ben Albritton's significant $200 million "rural renaissance" economic development package (SB 110), designed to bolster rural infrastructure, education, and healthcare. HB 6017, expanding the list of individuals eligible to collect non-economic damages in medical negligence to adult children and their parents, also passed the House. HB 649 by Rep. Giallombardo passed the House this week by a vote of 77-3, joining the list of bills in messages. The expands autonomous practice for certified registered nurse anesthetists.
