Like many FFA chapters across Kentucky,

Western Hills students selling plants they've grown


Western Hills High School FFA members, from left: Addison Shaffer, Carter Hutcherson, and Cheyenne Robinson, and FFA advisor Jeff Shaffer, are selling flowers and ferns, some in hanging baskets, in the greenhouse behind the school at 100 Doctors Drive in Frankfort. On the eve of Mother's Day on Saturday, May 10, moms are invited to bring their children, who can paint a pot and pick out a flower to go in it for mom, all for free.

Kentucky remains the state with the largest beef cattle inventory east of the Mississippi River at 869,000 head.

Kentucky ranks sixth in the nation in meat goat inventory with 60,000 head. The Commonwealth is also home to 5,800 dairy goats, which rank 23rd in the U.S. for production of breeding stock and all-natural skin products, such as soaps and lotions.
