More Space, More Veterinary Care in Southern California

The UC Veterinary Medical Center, San Diego has operated as a satellite of the UC Davis William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital for more than 25 years. This center is currently under construction and will open in fall 2026 as a significantly expanded, state-of-the-art facility. Upon opening, the center will be known as the Janice K. Hobbs UC Davis Veterinary Medical Center Southern California.

Honoring Scout: Lifesaving Equipment for New Center

“I have had 12 Golden Retrievers, but Scout was truly the deepest soul of all. He had these beautiful brown eyes that always said, ‘I understand.’” Shelley Perry lost her beloved Scout a year ago.

In his memory, she made a gift to help purchase a new hemodialysis machine for the Janice K. Hobbs UC Davis Veterinary Medical Center Southern California.

Olivia: the One and Only

Olivia has many claims to fame in her household. She can jump in the air and catch a dragonfly. She can loaf with the best of them, said her owner Allison Libeu. But Olivia is also possibly a “one and only” in the world of veterinary medicine. Or at least, one of a very few.

Two Million Ways to Make a Difference

An anonymous donor has generously pledged a $2 million match challenge to help accelerate the project’s goals and add even more state-of-the-art equipment for innovative, transformational veterinary care in Southern California.

Donations made to the Gratitude in Action Capital Fund (UC Davis Hobbs) or the Gratitude in Action Facilities and Equipment Fund (UC Davis Hobbs) qualify for the $2 million match challenge. Support directed to these funds helps ensure the Janice K. Hobbs UC Davis Veterinary Medical Center Southern California is equipped with advanced technology and essential infrastructure needed to provide leading-edge specialty care for animals across the region.

Every gift has the power to expand access to lifesaving treatment, accelerate discovery, and strengthen the future of veterinary medicine.
