Southern California's Center of Excellence for Veterinary Care Expands in 2026

The UC Veterinary Medical Center, San Diego has operated as a satellite of the UC Davis William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital for more than 20 years. This center will be expanding into a state-of-the-art facility and re-named in 2026. Learn more about the Janice K. Hobbs UC Davis Veterinary Medical Center Southern California.

Sarge: A Journey of Love and Support

How the love of Sarge's owners, expert care from the team at the UC Veterinary Medical Center, San Diego, and donor support enable this Belgian Malinois to have a happy, active life.

Match Challenge for New Center

As construction of the new center moves forward, we are excited to share a rare opportunity to make any gift to the center go even further.

An anonymous donor has generously pledged a $2 million match challenge to help accelerate the project’s goals and add even more state-of-the-art equipment for innovative, transformational veterinary care in Southern California.

Every dollar donated will be matched, doubling its impact and helping us open the center fully equipped to change the lives of animals and the people who love them.

This is a unique moment to be part of something extraordinary — and to see how generosity can make twice the difference.

Get a Virtual Tour

The new center is on track for its buildout in spring of 2026 and will soon be home to advanced equipment designed to enhance the care we provide.

While planning is underway for the purchase and installation of this technology, additional equipment is still needed to ensure the Hobbs UC Davis Veterinary Center opens ready to deliver the very best in patient care.

If you haven’t seen it yet, we invite you to enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the new center. Join Chief Operations Officer Martin Durham for a virtual tour of the space as it takes shape in preparation for opening in 2026 at 5040 Shoreham Place in the University City area of San Diego.

Your generosity helps us equip the center with the tools and technology needed to make a difference for animals, their families, and the community we serve.
