Caring for Each Other

Bring Your Prayers

During worship, we are trying something new for our prayers - there will be a sheet at the back of the sanctuary with space for prayer concerns and joys…please write LEGIBLY whatever you would like to share with the community that day, and it will be shared during our prayer time together. Prayers may be edited for length, and it helps if you identify the person’s relationship to our community.

Prayer Request:

  • Prayers for Stephen Arth in the hospital for high blood pressure.
  • Prayers of healing for Mary Lou Haney after surgery last week.
  • Prayers for Dick Ault's nephew with a cancer diagnosis.
  • Prayers for Susi Jacobsen as she begins new treatments.
  • Prayers for healing and support for Ben Bohren with pneumonia.
  • Prayers for Jon Herbert, who is receiving care at Haven Post Acute in San Bernardino.
  • Prayers for healing for Eli, who has broken both her wrists.
  • Prayers for an end to the war in Iran and support for all families that have lost loved ones in the war.
  • Prayers for a safe journey for Danny Anderson as he travels to walk the Camino de Santiago and scatter some of the ashes of his wife, Kimberly, on the coast of Spain.

Ongoing concerns:

  • Tom Miller
  • Bill Buchanan
  • Ruth Jordan
  • Craig Wesson

Please send prayer requests to Pastor Jake at jake@redlandsucc.org

Fellowship

Hello RUCC family! I would like to thank each and every one of you that helped with our Easter Brunch! It was a wonderful time of food and fellowship, and I look forward to next year.

There is a new “pen and paper” sign-up sheet to help with fellowship, hanging on the refrigerator in the kitchen. You can sign up to help with set-up or bring food. The Shepherds Groups are rotating for help with clean-up, so no need to sign up for that. I will continue to do a Facebook post on Wednesdays to drum up helpers as needed.

We will need a few extra hands to help set up this Sunday, April 12. I will not be at church due to hosting a team for the Redlands Bicycle Classic.

Best, Kim

Note from Board President

Ever wish you could just have a chat with someone on the board about an idea you have or a concern for the church you'd like to share? Well, you can! Easily! I hang out in Micah Room in Mosaic Hall from 10:00 a.m.- noon on Tuesdays. Just stop by; I will be glad to see you!

Garden Renovation

The church garden is getting a makeover. We are revitalizing the grass area located on the east side of the sanctuary. This will improve drainage and ground stability. RUCC has contracted the landscape company Bright View to complete this project. A temporary fence will secure the area. Landscapers will upgrade irrigation by installing an automated, below-ground, pressurized system that reduces leaks and ensures even coverage. Then, they will scalp, till, grade, and overseed the area with hardy fescue and beautiful Kentucky bluegrass.

Warm weather is already upon us, so we are diligently moving this project forward. Expect to see the lawn growing within the next few weeks. We have also designed plans to make the garden more accessible to enable everyone to enjoy our outdoor sanctuary.

Helping Hands

CARING FOR KIN, April

This month, let's show Youth Hope that we care for the kiddos by donating some yummy snacks!

They need:

Takis

Chips

Crackers

Nuts

Cookies

Fruit (maybe some delicious local navel oranges?)

Fruit snacks

Applesauce

Juice

Gatorade

As the youth gather to snack, staff are able to get to know the individuals and their needs. Conversation leads to building relationships, and allows staff to begin guiding the youth with the help they need with school, jobs, housing, transportation, medical care, and more.

Thanks for your ongoing generosity.

Social Justice

Racial justice message

Federal prosecutors announced that a former correctional officer in West Virginia has pleaded guilty to taking part in a conspiracy to violate inmates’ rights through the use of unlawful force. The case highlights ongoing concerns about racialized violence and abuse within prison systems, where Black and brown people are disproportionately harmed. The plea agreement marks a step toward accountability, though advocates note that systemic reform remains urgently needed.

Environmental justice message

To ground and inspire us as people of faith in difficult times, the Jim Antal Keynote Lecture will be delivered by the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Samuel, a renowned advocate and organizer for justice in the Atlanta, Georgia area. This two-and half-hour summit will additionally feature a panel discussion of leading voices on issues of energy justice. The summit will take place on Saturday, April 25th at 1 pm ET.
