Sixth Sunday after Pentecost, July 12
"A Parsable of God's Outrageous Generosity"
One day, Jesus told a parable about a Sower who threw seeds here and there, and almost everywhere, and the seeds fell on various types of soil. It’s a curious story but what is the takeaway? Did Jesus have one point in mind? Or maybe five points? And what does the interpretation DO for us? If you join us on Sunday, I’ll tell you why this parable recently hit home for me like never before, and maybe you’ll find new appreciation for it, too. And then there’s the matter of what we do with the interpretation. As always, we have plenty to ponder together. Rev. Dr. Edward Schreur
Biography: I have served progressive churches mostly in New York but also overseas in the Sultanate of Oman and taught at Nile College in Sudan. I am ordained in the Reformed Church in America and also served as clergy in the Anglican Church. My wife, Tamera, and I live in Redlands, have been married for 45 years, and currently cherish spending leisurely time with our children and their families.

Pastor Michael comes to us after spending 4 years in retirement from the College Avenue UCC in Modesto. Michael served 16 years as senior pastor there. He and his husband Steve live in Palm Springs. Pastor Michael comes to us highly recommended by Rachael Pryor, our conference minister. Two fun facts: he is a retired English professor from Christian Brothers University, and he is also in ministry with the Enneagram Prison Project in California as a Riso & Hudson certified Enneagram teacher. Pastor Michael is looking forward to his ministry with us, and we are delighted he is accepting our call! He will start his time with us on August 1.

Next Chair Yoga, Monday, July 13
Chair Yoga may sound like it is easy-peasy, but it is quite a wonderful yet gentle workout. For the last eight months, 15 to 20 friends and neighbors of RUCC have gathered on Mondays at 10:00 a.m. in Covenant Hall to stretch, strengthen, and breathe. Our fearless leader, Jeanne Andrews, a gifted certified yoga instructor, challenges us to work a little harder in modified yoga poses. Afterwards, you feel the best kind of tired. It is for people of all abilities. We would love to have you give it a try. Donations appreciated.

Caring for Kin in July
In the month of July, we will be collecting school supplies for Women of Faith, an interfaith service organization dedicated to helping migrant and refugee families in Redlands and the surrounding areas. We have been collecting school supplies for Women of Faith every summer for the past few years, and they are very appreciative of our support.
The organization especially needs the following items for the upcoming school year:
Backpacks (especially large ones for high school and college students in addition to smaller ones for younger children)
Wide-ruled notebooks
Loose-leaf college-ruled notepaper
Pencils and pencil sharpeners
Pencil pouches
Glue sticks
Scissors (medium-sized)
Black Sharpies
Crayola crayons - 64 count box (Crayola brand specifically requested due to superior quality)
Crayola markers (Crayola brand specifically requested due to superior quality)

Racial justice message
The family of Kohen Wiley and supporters are calling for answers nearly two weeks after the 1-year-old was fatally wounded when police fired into a car in a Walmart parking lot. The family shared renewed demands: Total and full transparency, which includes the release of law enforcement body and dashboard video and footage from inside and outside the Walmart. They also called for the release of communication between police and the store leading up to and after the June 14 shooting
