A quarterly newsletter from Massachusetts Access to Recovery where our efforts to support individuals in recovery intersect. | | We often treat our street intersections as meeting points, a place to meet a friend before continuing together to a shared destination. We hope to meet you at The Corner with the same goal in mind: to collaborate, walk together, and work together to better support individuals in recovery.
When the road is dark, we rely on the streetlamps and lights above us to help guide the way. The work we do for those in recovery comes with challenges, but when we hear from ATR participants, they light us up. Our ATR participants are resilient; their courage guides us and inspires us. | | | While it is not uncommon for couples to go through the ATR program, it is rare to find two people like Tiffany and Cheyen. The two have seen each other at their lowest, helped each other through the early days of recovery, and come through the ATR program stronger. Through all they shared about their time in ATR, one thing that stood out was how they acknowledged each other and those who helped them come this far.
Cheyen described the “ripple effect” of positive influences, from receiving support through our partner, MassHire Holyoke to giving back to the recovery community.

In March, Boston Medical Center’s Grayken Center for Addiction hosted the first Together for Hope: Boston Addiction Conference. With inspiring panels of experts, thought-provoking presentations, and a supportive community of SUD focused organizations in attendance, a few team members of ATR were proud to have been included.
ATR Team members, from left to right, Brita Loftus, Michaella Jones, and Erin Allain host a resource table at the Together for Hope Conference.

| | We are excited to not only share the progress of the ATR program, but also share this space with partnering organizations that are making an impact on individuals in recovery and spotlight their work. In The Rotary, we will host discussions with other organizations and discuss important topics that are affecting our community and our participants. In a rotary, you may find yourself in the midst of chaos and confusion, but The Rotary is where we come together to help one another move in the right direction. | | ATR Special Projects: A Second Chance | |
As we enter the summer, our team at ATR is reflecting on the work we have done, the partnerships we have forged, and the impact we have made for individuals in recovery over the years. Back in April, we recognized Second Chance Month: a month to highlight the opportunities for government entities and organizations to foster meaningful second chances for people returning to the community from incarceration. This idea of “second chances” prompted our team to discuss our Special Projects and reflect on the populations we serve through them.
