Ann Block - Meritorious Service

Ann is being honored for over 40 years of dedicated service to the sport of bowling, with a lifelong commitment to youth development in Metro Detroit and Michigan. In 1981, she became a youth coach at Skore Lanes in Taylor. Along this journey, she would become a youth director, tournament director, and a Silver Level USBC Coach.

Ann has held extensive leadership roles at the local, state, and national levels, and currently serves as a director of the Michigan State USBC, where she has chaired multiple committees. She is also President of the National 600 Bowling Club and serves with the International Bowling Media Association. Along with many more services to the sport of bowling.

Her honors include induction into the Greater Detroit Bowling Hall of Fame and multiple awards recognizing her coaching, service, and journalism contributions.

In addition to her bowling service, Ann has supported her community for 23 years with Meals on Wheels and service on the Taylor School District Board.

Randy Tambourine - Meritorious Service

Randy began coaching youth bowling in 1992 after his son entered the sport and he saw a need for coaching. That year, he completed the CI (Coach Instructor) course with Dan Ottman and became involved with the Cecil Ward Youth Travel League as a coach.

In 1993, he became a YABA area director and later added the title of state YABA/USBC director in 1995. He completed RCI (Registered Coach Instructor) training in 1994 and became a J.O. Level 1 instructor in 1998.

He earned Bronze certification in 1996 and Silver certification in 2002, and became a J.O. Master Instructor in 2004. He has trained and certified over 750 Level I and Level II coaches.

In 2011, he took over leadership of the Youth Masters Tournament after the previous director stepped down and helped continue the event.

Randy has received recognition, including Michigan State YABA Youth Leaders Coach of the Year, the Greater Detroit Bowling Association Howard W. McCullough Old Timer Award, and Metro Detroit USBC Coach of the Year.

Lisa Doss - Superior Performance 

Lisa (Geske) Doss began bowling at age six at Miracle Lanes and quickly showed her talent, bowling her first 200 game the following year. By age 12, she was competing in multiple youth leagues and travel competitions, later qualifying for Junior Gold through the Michigan Junior Masters Association.

In her adult career, Lisa has been a consistent competitor in Grand Rapids leagues and tournaments, including the Michigan State Queens Tournament, where she has cashed in 10 consecutive events. She has also earned multiple titles at the Michigan State Women’s Championships, including the 2021 Actual Singles Title and the 2025 Actual All-Events Title.

Lisa has more than 20 Greater Grand Rapids City Tournament titles,12+ sanctioned 300 games, and 12+ 800 series, including a high 854 series with a 300 game. She continues to compete at a high level while also beginning her coaching career as an assistant coach at Northview High School in Grand Rapids last year.



Outside of bowling, Lisa has worked as a TSA officer for more than 10 years.

Larry Walker - Superior Performance

Larry Walker began bowling in youth leagues at Town-n-Country Lanes and developed his skills while working with Randy Pierce at Super Bowl in Canton, where he learned advanced lane play and elevated his competitive game.

He went on to earn his PBA card, compete in elite local leagues, and join the Tuesday Night All-Stars at Thunderbowl at age 25, winning multiple league titles. At the state level, Larry captured several titles, including the 1988 Singles Championship and a record All-Events score of 2239 that stood for years. He also won two regional PBA events.

After returning to amateur status, Larry made Team USA in 1992 and earned two gold medals at the 1993 Olympic Festival in South Africa in singles and team competition.

In senior competition, Larry has won 11 Michigan Major titles, 11 National Senior Bowling Association titles, 12 North American Super Senior titles, and 13 Senior Singles Open titles. He has rolled 75 career 300 games and 60 plus 800 series while maintaining a 239 average.

Larry is a member of five Hall of Fames and has built his career alongside a 36-year career in computer services as a project manager with IDS and Hewlett-Packard.

Ron Sparks Jr. - Superior Performance

Ron Sparks Jr. began bowling at age 10 at Wonderland Lanes in Livonia and quickly developed a passion for the sport, eventually focusing exclusively on bowling after excelling in other youth sports. Guided by coaches and mentors, including John Curtis and Dave Silverman, Ron competed extensively in youth leagues, MJMA events, and scratch competition while receiving strong support from his family.

He advanced to Junior Team USA. Later competing at the collegiate level for Pikeville and then Wichita State University. At Pikeville, he earned First Team All-American honors and Rookie of the Year recognition. During his time at Wichita, he was part of two national championship teams in 2009 and 2010.

In adult competition, Ron is a two-time Michigan State Masters champion (2014, 2015) and a Michigan State Open team champion (2017). Nationally, he has earned two USBC Eagles, including Singles in 2015 and Team All-Events in 2022. He has recorded 61 perfect 300 games, 35+ 800 series, and maintained a 240+ average for multiple seasons.

Ron continues to compete locally in Michigan while balancing work and family life with his wife and their children.

Special Recognition Award🏆

This year, Michigan State USBC added another category to our Hall of Fame.

This allows us to recognize bowlers throughout the state who have made a contribution to bowling but have not necessarily served at the state level.

Eligibility:

1. Long-time association managers/presidents, board members who have served on a local level.

2. Proprietors and center managers for their help during state tournaments.

Our First Special Recognition Award Recipient

Mike Nawrocki, longtime owner/proprietor of Sherman Bowling Center in Muskegon.

His support during the many tournaments hosted in Muskegon over the years has always been top-notch, and his willingness to help made running tournaments at Sherman a wonderful experience.
