2026 Prayer Intentions

Pope Leo XIV's prayer intentions for 2026 reflect the Church's mission and the Pope's desire to unite in prayer on various global issues.

Pope Leo XIV's October 2026 Prayer Intention is for mental health ministry, asking that such ministry be established throughout the Church to help overcome the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental illnesses.

World Mission Sunday - October 18, 2026

Pope Leo XIV has released a letter to Catholics for World Mission Sunday. The theme is "One in Christ, united in mission."

Lord Jesus,

You see every person with love and know the burdens that others cannot see. Draw close to those living with mental illness, and surround them and their families with understanding, friendship, and care.

Guide your Church to establish mental health ministries where people are welcomed, listened to, and accompanied. Give us the courage to challenge stigma and discrimination, and the humility to learn from those whose experiences we may not understand.

Bless those who offer pastoral care and those who provide treatment and support. Help us uphold the dignity of every person and make our communities places of belonging and hope.

Amen.

Let us lift these intentions in prayer...

• Please hold the Very Reverend Kyle Ingels in prayer as he guides our diocese as Diocesan Administrator. May God grant him wisdom, strength, and peace.

• May Catholic Charities speak with moral clarity and act with compassion. As we pursue peace and justice, help us reflect Christ’s love in our advocacy and service to neighbors in need.

• Ask God to provide the people, partnerships, and resources Catholic Charities needs to welcome and serve all who come to our doors.

• Remember our Spiritual Care Team in prayer. May its members remain healthy and strengthened as they accompany clients on their spiritual journeys, and may others be inspired to join this ministry.

• Pray that our clients experience Catholic Charities as a place of belonging, where they can find comfort, connection, and spiritual care when they seek it.

• As families move into Hunt Family Housing, may they find peace in their new homes and encouragement through the services and support available to them.

• Lift up everyone who turns to Catholic Charities for help. May they be met with compassion, practical guidance, and the support they need to move toward stability and hope.
