Friendship. Community. Support. These three words are the foundation of Sisterhood. For over 150 years our Sisterhood has been a cornerstone auxiliary for the synagogue. We are proud that 80% of every dollar you donate to Sisterhood through membership, fundraising or participating in programs flows to the synagogue in monetary support. We will have detailed financials available at our Annual Meeting on June 9, along with our proposed budget for 2024-2025. Thank you to our outgoing board for a great year of service! We made endless meals, painted, baked, created turkey challahs, drank wine, served apples and honey, volunteered at Happy Bottoms and visited the zoo to name a few of our activities!

Be on the lookout for your new board members and fun, insightful events to come. I am so proud to continue to be your President for another year and hope you will join me in the Fun, Friendship and Support we offer.

Shalom,

Barbie Rogoff, Sisterhood President

Sisterhood is proud to send our board member, Reva Friedman, to the Women of Reform Judaism's (WRJ) Fried Women’s Conference to re-ignite our passion for women leadership nationwide and around the world. This year we will explore our connection to Sisterhoods across the nation and strengthen our collective voices. As a proud founding member of WRJ, we contribute annually to the work of WRJ, advocating for inclusion, human rights, and the fight against anti-Semitism. To learn more about WRJ, Click Here.

Sisterhood Judaica Shop

Jerusalem-born Hadarya handcrafted these colorful candlesticks continuing a family tradition of creating beautiful pieces. Ancient Jewish sources are the inspiration for Hadarya's work.

Our Sisterhood Judaica Gift Shop has been, and still is, selling “I Stand for Israel” pins. All proceeds from the sale of these pins are donated to the Israel Emergency Relief Fund. The small act of buying a $2 pin goes a long way in helping others. Click Here to read a thank you letter from the Jewish Federation of KC.

Todah rabbah, big thanks, for an amazing hamantaschen ‘season.’ It was a three-pronged effort by Sisterhood which:

  • provided the religious school children with dough, fillings and packaging to bake hamantaschen;
  • had a Sunday with Sisterhood event for moms and non-Yalla! children to take-and-bake hamantaschen; and
  • held a very successful hamantaschen sale fundraiser!

Thank you to Susan Himmelstein, chairwoman, and the many volunteers who made this happen.

Friendship. Community. Support.
