From Our Commodore:
Charles Souliere, "Charmar II"
What an amazing time we all had at the Summer Music Festival last night. The variety of the four different groups of performers was really fun to observe and listen to. There was truly something for just about everyone. The food trucks were a big hit, as was the new addition of local vendors selling their creations. The

crowd was HUGE, and everyone certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves. I want to thank all of the Club Members who volunteered in various roles to help make the evening such a big success.
Past Commodore Casey Thigpen did a fantastic job as the events’ MC, particularly coming up with the “dad joke” contest. Thanks again to Britnee Patjens and Ashley Becker, who orchestrated and spearheaded the entire event under the supervision of Vice Commodore Lori Ulsh. The innovative new changes in the festival format were fantastic. I am already looking forward to next year’s event.
August is the prime boating month for many FIYC members. Maria and I will be heading up with the Club to Anacortes, and from there to Roche Harbor and the Canadian Gulf Islands. Nothing beats being out on the water for a few weeks. We will be accompanied, as always, by our good friends Carl Gann and Michelle Torrey. As such, we will not be at the August membership meeting. Vice Commodore Lori Ulsh and Rear Commodore Todd Lohse will also be boating, and absent from the meeting. Past Commodore Fletcher McGregor has volunteered to lead the Membership Meeting. Thank you Fletcher. The August meeting is an outdoor meeting with the meat provided by the Club, and potluck dishes provided by members.
Finally, just a reminder that a memorial service for Kent Peterson will occur on Sunday, August 11 at 2 PM at the Fox Island UCC. Following this, there will be a celebration of Kent’s life at the FIYC Clubhouse. This is all being arranged by Kent’s sister, Nancy Downey. Webmaster Kent Autrand has agreed to be the Club’s point of contact. Please stay tuned for additional details.

From our Vice Commodore:
Lori Ulsh, "Bad Ice"
| Where to begin when it comes to Thank Yous! The number of members who stepped up to help make our Music Festival a success are countless. Please know your help was greatly appreciated and invaluable. | | |
Britnee Patjens and Ashley Becker - you two outdid yourselves. Your attention to detail and organization made this event seamless.
July 4th was also an amazing event put on by Shannon Lane with fabulous fireworks by Rob Moore. Thank you to all the members who helped with set up and clean up as well as working in the bar and other needed tasks.
On to FICRA fair. Sue and Jeff Morrison are heading up this event. They are still several opportunities to help, please reach out to Sue or Jeff to cover one the open shifts on August 10.
Our Nomination Chair Casey Thigpen is still looking for Members to step into a leadership role on the Board. Please reach out to him or myself if you have any questions.
Enjoy the remainder of summer and we will see you when we return from our boat trip North.
Safe travels to all!

From our Rear Commodore:
Todd Lohse, "Lah Dee Dah"
I’d like to start to with a huge “Thank You” to the Grounds, Building, and Garden committees. The property was in “Bristol” condition for our community guests at the Music Festival.
“We have the power!” Special Thanks to Fleet Captain Blake Patjens for “keeping the lights

on”, the music playing, and the dock energized. Everything ran peacefully throughout the event.
The ice maker is back online. The crew has recently been grappling with filtration issues. Issues that haven’t been an issue previously. With the help of the repair crew, we believe the problem is solved for the foreseeable future. Thank You Dennis Rowland and Bill Putzai for your tireless efforts to tackle the situation. And shout out to Dennis for not only filling the box freezer with ice for the Music Festival, but the other two freezers as well!

From Our Past Commodore:
Fletcher MacGregor, "Ila Faye"
Rhonda and I are back home following the Music Festival. We had our boat down there and had a fabulous time. Great people all around and what a party. The torch has been passed and Ashley and Britnee have given this event an exciting fresh look.

Too many things to get into in this short narrative but I'm sure you will be hearing about it for a while. THANK YOU ASHLEY and BRITNEE!
Our summertime casual outdoor Membership Meeting is coming up on August 6 with many Members of the Board of Trustees planning to be cruising up north. That means you may have to listen to me for much of the meeting, but I will keep it short - promise. Make sure to review the information on what to bring and how it will work. We will be bringing another family into the Club, along with moving a number of families into the Active Applicants world. The Club's popularity continues to be very strong with the waitlist now over 200.
Hope to see many of you on August 6th.

From Our Fleet Captain
Blake Patjens, "Salty Gina"
I cant believe we are down to our final cruises of 2024. Up next we are heading to Anacortes, followed by the Blackberry Festival Cruise, and last but not least, Poulsbo to finish out the season September 13-16th.
As always, we are still in need of Cruise Captains to finish out the year, so if you have been thinking about it this summer and are ready to give it a try, please reach out to me at anytime. This can be a group effort as well.

On June 29th, we showed up in true red, white, and blue fashion at our Honor America Parade and Flotilla! Special thanks to Todd Lohse for leading the pack this year. Our best decorated boat prize went to Mike and Jackie Ireland and our most spirited person prize went to Nancy Flint! .
I want to thank Lori and Lance Ulsh for taking on the Cruise Captain role at the Longbranch Cruise. All enjoyed the relaxing, close to home location, the warm weather and chucking those duckies! Shout out to Paul Osterstrom, who with an injured wrist, took home first place with the lone duck in the dinghy! A second chance was given for second place and Steve Flint delivered!
A handful of Members are starting their summer cruising "up north" at the Anacortes Cruise and many Members are heading straight up to the San Juan Islands and Canada. Looking forward to hearing about all of their trip highlights!
For the Blackberry Festival Cruise, we'll be at the Bremerton Marina this year. The email to sign-up for the a slip will be sent in a couple of days.
And I just have to say that I am so proud of my First Mate Britnee for all of her hard work and late nights planning the Music Festival. Her and Ashley did an amazing job, and we are all so grateful for the countless hours behind the scenes and setting up that made for another successful and really good time! We are honored to be part of such an awesome Club full of amazing people.
See you on the water!

Visit the Fox Island Yacht Club Facebook page for more incredible photos from the Music Festival, courtesy of Carl Martin! Thank you Carl!
Big shout out also to our Bar Manager Bob Darmody! The hours of prep and set-up (and break-down) turned our Field Kitchen Bar not only a fun place to be, but a really fun place to work in! Great organization and aren't those margarita dispensers the coolest thing ever!

RECIPROCAL AREA ON DOCK REMINDER
It has been reported that many boats are being left in the designated reciprocal area of our dock when there is room elsewhere for that vessel. As noted in our Policy Rules, Members can only leave their vessel in that area temporarily, when no other space is available, and the vessel must be moved when space opens up elsewhere.
Also, IF YOU HAVE A VESSEL with an OUTBOARD motor that can be lifted or has a low draft, please do not NOT leave your vessel on the outside of the "T" of the dock. That area is needed for the larger vessels that have a deeper draft.
Check the dock camera for availability - and if you don't have it on your phone, connect with Kent Autrand for help.
