Celebrating the Life of Robert Zufall, MD


Earlier this month, President and CEO Fran Palm and the Board of Directors were saddened to announce the sudden passing of Robert Zufall, MD, known fondly as "Dr. Bob." Dr. Bob founded Zufall Health in 1990 with his wife, Kay, and remained committed to its patients until the very end of his life. In response to his passing, the health center has received an outpouring of support, underscoring his enduring legacy of service and compassion. All are welcome to join in celebrating his extraordinary life at a memorial service on Sunday, April 21 at 1:30 PM at County College of Morris in the Davidson Rooms in the Student Community Center.

New Year, New Board of Directors Lineup


The new year marked changes to Zufall's Board of Directors. Barry Rabner, MPA, previously Vice Chair, is now Chair. In turn, Former Chair O’Donnell has replaced Rabner as Vice Chair. Michael McCloe has taken the Secretary seat in place of Donald Costanzo. Linda Seeley remains Treasurer. Additionally, the Board welcomes three new members: Erika Iglesias, a long-time patient and parent of a patient; Barry Petruzzi, Senior Vice President of Actuarial Services at Delta Dental; and Aura Villa, a Real Estate Agent with Realty Executives Exceptional REALTORS NJ Randolph.

Chief Medical Officer Rina Ramirez, MD, a Key Contributor to National Report on Teen Health



The more than 1,400 Community health centers (CHCs) across the U.S. have a new resource for providing sexual and reproductive health services to adolescents, thanks to a team of experts that includes Zufall Health Chief Medical Officer and Internal Medicine Physician Rina Ramirez, MD. The report was published by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) in collaboration with Cicatelli Associates Inc (CAI) and with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Reproductive Health.

Volunteer Spotlight: Howard Rappoport, DDS


In its early days, Zufall Health depended on the help of many volunteer providers who were friends of Dr. Bob and Kay Zufall. Today, this spirit of volunteerism endures in individuals like Howard Rappoport, DDS. Rappoport did not discover the health center until the end of his 40-year career in private practice, when his late wife suggested he join as a volunteer dentist. More than a decade later, he says his volunteer service has been profoundly life-changing.

Meet Your Provider: Katheryn Grajales, PA-C


Zufall Health Physician Assistant Katheryn Grajales, PA-C, finds fulfillment in caring for collaborating with vulnerable patients in Morristown, her hometown. Previously a patient representative at Zufall, Grajales understands deeply the impact of community health centers in helping patients overcome barriers to care. Grajles holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Seton Hall University and is board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

AmeriCorps Member Supports Vital Pregnancy Education Efforts



Kiara Isaza, a Zufall Health AmeriCorps member who plans to become an obstetrician-gynecologist, played a key role in this year's Maternal Health Awareness Day activities. With her team in the Prenatal Department, Isaza taught patients how to self-advocate during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. She is grateful for the valuable experiences she's gaining through AmeriCorps, the national volunteer service program that connects volunteers with nonprofit, government, and faith-based organizations. Applications for Zufall's 2024-2025 AmeriCorps service year are now open, welcoming those eager to make a difference like Isaza.
