Construction Update on the

Century Boulevard Extension Project

Thank you for your patience as the contractor mobilizes and begins construction on the project. Here's what to expect in the coming weeks:

Utility Trenching

  • Starting Monday, September 14, crews will be trenching across Century Blvd., Ariel St., and Borwick St.
  • Trenching will allow utilities to move their lines underground.

What to Expect:

  • Expect flaggers and intermittent lane closures.
  • Trenches will be covered daily at the end of each workday.

Rock Creek Area – Bridge & Wall Construction

  • Groundwork will begin for the mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall south of Rock Creek, which will support the new bridge beams.
  • Crews will begin building an access road to the north side of Rock Creek.

What to Expect:

  • Piling driving for the bridge supports north of Rock Creek.
  • Exact pile‑driving dates will be posted on the project website once scheduled.

Lighting Installation – NE Oelrich & NE Dogwood

  • Contractors are installing new light poles at both intersections.
  • Once complete, the City of Hillsboro will be cleared to install Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) to help pedestrians and bicyclists more safely cross the intersections.

Mobility Impacts

Temporary pedestrian access routes will be installed to ensure people have a safe route to walk along Century Boulevard.

Lanes will be shifted and temporary lane closures can be expected on Century Boulevard as the contractor starts digging the utility trench. One lane will remain open in each direction with temporary delays.

The shoulder of the eastbound lanes on Main Street will be closed while the contractor moves equipment into the area.

No road closures are planned in the coming months.
