Glass Fusing Beginning I & II, Advanced Fused Glass, and Stained Glass classes will be available with Marianne Hite. These glass classes are for those of you who just love glass. For glass blowers who wish to use some of your projects that made it to the floor (and you saved them), we can add in some of the pieces if it is the same COE. Some colors just may not be compatible after being altered by the heat of blowing glass.

What is Fused Glass? Layering glass in the kiln and bringing the temperature up to about 1450 degrees Fahrenheit until it melts together. More steps are involved, but that is the basic concept.
What is the Stained Glass Copper Foil method? Cutting glass and foiling the edges so they can be soldered together to form one piece.

Beginning Glass Fusing
As a beginner, you will learn how to cut glass, make samples of the different techniques in glass fusing, and learn a bit more on the process of fusing glass. All supplies provided for this beginning class, which will be working with clear glass only. At the last of the class you will make a small project but the goal is more about learning the process than making one item.
Beginners will start by learning to cut glass. We will go over this the first hour.
Beginner Class is required before the Advanced Fusing class unless you talk to Marianne or are a previous student who has mastered beginning skills.

Advanced Glass Fusing
After a few Beginning Glass Fusing classes, the advanced students work on bigger projects or more difficult projects. Students come with their own ideas, sketch them out (ideally) and we will get them into glass. Advanced students often search out colored glass supplies as part of the process to be learned, and buy their own colors. We use glass compatible with a 96 coefficient of expansion (COE).
Tools and instruction provided, but please be prepared to get your own supplies like fiber paper, glass 96(COE).

Fused Glass Jewelry classes are available for groups of 4 to 10 people. Look out for regular class dates, or book a private group class! Class supplies are provided to make two items for $38 per person. For an additional $10 fee per person, you can make two more.
For a private Fused Glass Jewelry class, contact Marianne Hite hiteofglass@gmail.com with a time in mind for a little gathering of 4 to 10 friends or family. You can bring your own snacks and refreshments. A sign-up link can be made available for each member to pay online after setting up the agreed-upon date and time. Or buy a group a gift and determine details later with Marianne.

The Peninsula Art Academy is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization promoting the arts in the Village of Peninsula and throughout northeast Ohio. We offer art classes, workshops, a fine arts gallery with rotating exhibits, working artist studios, and a retail gallery featuring works in all mediums by dozens of local and regional artists. We are always looking for new instructors, who receive compensation for their teaching.
