Our chapter council/board meetings are now a hybrid mix of in-person (LIVE) and virtual participation via Zoom. In addition, to LIVE, we will alternate with virtual Zoom-only meetings.

Hybrid In-Person/Zoom Meetings will start at 4:00 PM, allowing you to tune into the live meeting via a Zoom link.
Zoom-only meetings start at 5:00 PM.

HOME CONNECT KITCHEN

The Heart of Everyone Home—What the Thermador Home Connected Kitchen Can Do For You & Your Clients

This Informative, fun, networking Chapter meeting was held at the Thermador showroom in the A&D Building—view the video below to learn more about Thermador’s #HomeConnect.

Attendees were welcomed with a wine bar and the B/S/H/ chefs prepared delicious small plates of beef tenderloin and shrimp.

The presentation covered new tech apps that create peace of mind and added security as well as energy-saving features for sustainability. Understanding of the Connected Home and the IoT of things helps make us all better designers! The program, presented by Patrick Palacio, Head of Digital Transition B/S/H/, provided insight into the connected kitchen and how it adds convenience, value, and a better user experience for the client.

Guests explored how clients can access an array of personalized experiences in their kitchen and home while also seeing the possibilities of intuitive, simplified app navigation that allows clients to do more than remotely control their appliances.

With April comes the promise of Spring. We always look to this time of year for the pleasures we anticipate in the months ahead.

And, as always, there is a lot to anticipate on our calendar in the spring and summer. Our March meeting at Thermador was a wonderful return to our long-time, much-loved, chapter sponsor. Lillian O'Bourke and Douglas Stonecipher, and their team, both entertained and educated us while their chef prepared light bites, great drinks, and a presentation on connectivity.

On April 20th, we’ll be at Dacor celebrating “Green is the New Black” and honoring Earth Day. You don’t want to miss this special evening, so mark the date on your calendar and register. It’ll be a fun event. Our chapter meetings are always a great

way to catch up with your friends and colleagues.

The highly anticipated Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House is back for its 48th year and has claimed the historic River Mansion at 337 Riverside Drive at West 106th Street as its location. The Show House will be open to the public for one month, beginning Thursday, May 11th, 2023. The Show House doubles as the nation’s leading design event of the year benefiting the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.

DIANA ROJAS

Sometimes things that happen by chance in fact happen for a reason. Diana Rojas discovered this in 2018 when she left the “corporate New York City world” behind—she’s a Brooklyn College graduate with a degree in Broadcast Journalism—and found herself suddenly jobless. A freelance opportunity doing social media for a friend’s mother’s business, Hicksville, NY-based EL Design Studio (ELDS), seemed like a great way to occupy her time—until it seamlessly transitioned into a full-time career. Four years later, Diana is a Project Management Coordinator with Ferguson Enterprises, and does her own interior design work on the side.
