Head to the MIELE Showroom of the A&D Building on 58th Street in NYC for a networking breakfast.

Kick off the day with a CEU Keynote luncheon at FISHER & PAYKEL New York Experience Center with NKBA's CEO, Bill Darcy, Jr. The day concludes with a celebratory cocktail party in the DACOR showroom, hosted by NKBA and Dacor, making it a truly spectacular experience not to be missed.

MONOGRAM–GE LAUNCHES CoCREATE INITIATIVE & SHOWROOM IN STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT

By Charlé-John — The NKBA Manhattan chapter meeting embarked on a field trip to Stamford, Conn., on September 28, commemorating the launch of the Monogram-GE Appliances CoCreate space—a hub designed to foster creativity, connectivity, and inspiration. This event marked GE's return to Connecticut after a decade, showcasing a state-of-the-art showroom with a strong commitment to bolstering entrepreneurial manufacturing and educational partnerships within both the local community and the kitchen industry. Noteworthy among these collaborations are First Build ID, Net-Zero Home, GE Lighting, GE Profile, Savant Power, and Tantalus– smart grid solutions.

The tour of the forthcoming facility offered a glimpse into the maker's space and microfactory whose façade tastefully replicates the original Bridgeport, Conn., GE factory, complete with the signature clock above the entrance. This space is intended to be a platform where students, community members, and inventors can actively engage in the process of co-creation. Furthermore, GE Appliances has networked its 1B–First Build microfactory, an open makerspace community, for innovative go-to-market strategies bringing groundbreaking products to market.

As if this weren't enough, The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) hosted the Kitchen Trends Summit following our captivating tour of this remarkable facility. Distinguished panels deliberated on the latest findings from NKBA's kitchen design research. Engaging one-on-one with Sarah Robertson from Studio Dearborn, delving into the "Kitchen of the Future." Also, a dynamic discussion featuring our very own Manhattan Chapter President Julie Schuster, Kimberly Platt, and Marc Hottenroth of GE, expertly moderated by NKBA's Tricia Zach. By this point, our minds were abuzz with knowledge, leaving us with no alternative but to indulge in delectable canapés, hors d'oeuvres, and handcrafted cocktails, including some of Tennessee's finest Bourbon and Rye. This culinary delight marked a splendid conclusion to an exceptionally informative day, making it an extraordinary chapter meeting indeed.

Email Jeannine Price for more information on how you can become a volunteer!

If you are not already a member, join our Chapter to attend our informative, fun networking events held every month; visit our Newsletter to keep up on events.

Without a doubt, our September 28th event was a tremendous opportunity to see and experience the new CoCreate space that GE has created in Stamford, Conn. It was another collaboration between NKBA National, our sponsor Monogram, and the Manhattan chapter. It truly takes a team, but when you have one, terrific events like this one are possible. The space is amazing and brings such collaboration between GE, the design community, and local community as well. Since GE's history in Connecticut, this is a way for them to give back to the local community that supported its beginnings, and we think that is wonderful. Be sure to check out the article in this newsletter for a full recap of the day and its activities.

You will have seen, in your inbox, the next event on October 26th. It is the 2nd annual EDU Day taking place at the A&D Building. As always, our officers and team have pulled together an amazing program of presentations and CEUs. Registration and check-in morning treats will be at Gold Sponsor, Miele.

And the kickoff keynote will be delivered by Bill Darcy, CEO of NKBA. This is a not-to-be- missed opportunity, held at Fisher & Paykel. Following that will be an afternoon of panels and discussions at sponsor showrooms, culminating in a cocktail event at Dacor celebrating the 60th Anniversary of NKBA. There is a link in this newsletter to sign up, if you haven’t already. It’s a great opportunity to review all of our amazing event hosts and make your schedule for the day.

The balance of October, Kitchen and Bath Month, is peppered with Events of Interest from several of our sponsors and the community at large. Check out the list here in the newsletter for more details on those, too.

On November 16th, the chapter will enjoy another trip out to the fabulous LG headquarters, sponsored by Gold Sponsor SKS. This will give us the opportunity to enjoy their new Skyline Showroom with glorious views of New York while sipping cocktails and learning more about the line. And then on December 6th will be the annual Holiday Party, sponsored by True Residential and Cambria. As always, this is a Member’s Only event. So, there's no time like the present to get your membership in place during the October membership drive, enjoy our terrific EDU Day, and then participate in all of the upcoming events along with us!

Mark Rosenhaus, owner at Rosenhaus Design Group, studied architecture at Kent State University. He graduated from Pratt Institute in Interior Architecture where his attraction to modern forms, curves, and the abstract by Mondrian, Van Gogh, Eero Saarinen, and so many others was evident. His creativity was set into high gear when a new friend introduced the principles of the Golden Proportion based on the Fibonacci numbers. JOAN RAVASY: I LIKE TO RUN IN THE NYC RAIN WITH STILETTOS ON

I have been very fortunate to work full time my entire career in the interior design world for over 30 years, witnessing many changes, expectations, and industry demands.

My friends ask me why I chose interior design as a profession. I then say, growing up, I loved to move the furniture around and dress up! And I still can do that now!

My day-to-day is full on. I am up early with a cup of coffee with Tess, my Coton de Tulear, at my feet, checking emails, reviewing drawings, and working on great client outcomes. For my entire career, I have always volunteered for ASID and, most recently, NKBA. I cannot tell you how rewarding that has been; thus, I spend many hours dedicating my time to these top-notch chapters in Manhattan. After spending time at my desk in the morning, I am off to clients, vendors, and workrooms. My day will end around 7 PM with an Absolut on the Rocks, watching a great period film on Netflix, or planning my next travel adventure.

My favorite part of my job is interfacing with my clients. I value communication and gaining insights into their need to accomplish successful interiors and create unique environments just for them. My clients are wonderful people, treat me well, and allow me to guide them through the design process.

As to being on the Board, nothing at all pushed me. I wanted to be selected and put my hat in the ring. I am grateful and bring my long ASID Past President and ASID Board experience to the NKBA table. It is such a growing process and an honor to learn from others and be in the presence of top industry professionals. I never take that for granted.

I am often asked for advice. I would say that volunteering in professional organizations is key. Obtaining positions on Design Councils, Boards, and committees, offering up your “free time” without feeling you should be compensated. It is often a tight group of designers who wish to bring our industry and our chapter to the next level, and it is wonderful to be on that journey. I also suggest always striving to level up your game and your credentials, as clients look to these and see that you are involved and supportive of your work and peers. On a personal note, I never vary from honesty, loyalty, and going the extra mile to seize every opportunity to move my career forward. I have maintained relationships for years, and it is

always amazing to me how paths cross in ways you least expect, so maintaining a good, clean reputation is a life’s work.
