Shana Tovah, friends!
I have spent this week feeling such deep gratitude and appreciation for our special and beloved BCC. What a Holy Day season this was! Thank you all for joining in community as we welcomed in 5787 with beautiful music and soulful prayer and moving messages of hope. It was so wonderful to see so many of you at Temple Akiba and have a chance to connect. Thank you to our High Holy Day Chairs, Debby Chanen and Jonathan Falk and our tireless staff, Maggie Boyles and Tim Goad. AND all of you who volunteered in any way, offered a friendly smile to newcomers, and brought your genuine care and love for one another and BCC. I hope to see you as the holidays continue - Sukkot Shabbat tomorrow and then Simchat Torah next Friday!

The book for this month is The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, by Michael Chabon. This is a coming of age novel about father-son conflict and sexual identity in the late 20th century.
