The Nov. 3 ballot includes races for California’s governor and other state offices and ballot measures, the 4th District seat on the Orange County Board of Supervisors covering parts of Anaheim and school board trustees in our city, among others.

For the city of Anaheim, a citywide mayor seat and three additional Anaheim City Council seats are on the ballot.

As always, we don’t get into individual candidates here, leaving those important decisions to you. Your voter information guide is a great resource.

The mayor’s race includes three candidates. Races for District 2 covering part of west Anaheim and District 6 covering east Anaheim have incumbent candidates seeking re-election with no other opposing candidates competing. District 3 in and around downtown Anaheim has two candidates on the ballot.

All Council terms are for the next four years starting in December.

All city voters will see the mayor’s race on their ballot. Races for districts 2, 3 and 6 will only appear for voters in those districts.

Seats for Districts 1, 4 and 5 are not on the Nov. 3 ballot and will appear on the 2028 ballot.

You can see 2026 Anaheim candidate information at Anaheim.net/votes.

Honoring our veterans

Join us in honoring those who have served at our Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Our ceremony recognizes the dedication and sacrifice of our veterans — past and present — as we thank them for their service to our nation and our community.

Veterans Day honors all who have served in the military, including those currently serving, those who have served, and those we remember.

The ceremony will feature remarks from emcee and Navy veteran Bobby McDonald and a keynote address from retired Army Lt. Col. Barbara Gerovac, who served for 24 years including in Operation Just Cause in Panama in 1989-90.

We'll also enjoy inspiring performances by the Esperanza High School Vocal Ensemble, including a rendition of the "United States Armed Forces Medley."

The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Anaheim Veterans Monument, 241 S. Anaheim Blvd., in downtown Anaheim near the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center.

Parking is available in the Anaheim City Hall structure off Broadway and in structures on Center Street Promenade.

We are grateful to all who have served and hope to see you on Veterans Day.

We know not everyone has access to healthcare. This is a chance to get essential health services for you and your family at no cost.

The event is open to everyone, regardless of where you live, insurance status or immigration status.

For those without insurance or regular access to healthcare, this event offers same day services with minimal paperwork.

Services include:

  • Vision services
  • Flu shots
  • Physicals, heart tests
  • Chiropractor, acupuncture

The event will also feature a citizenship fair offering application assistance, legal advise and other resources for those looking for a path to citizenship.

This event is thanks to the hundreds of doctors, nurses, medical students and community volunteers who make this happen.

El Nino: what we're doing, what to know

Anaheim prepares for rain and is ready to respond to issues in real-time. With the potential for a strong El Nino in the months ahead, we're taking extra steps to be rain ready.

What is El Nino?

El Nino is a weather pattern that can bring heavy rain to Anaheim. We saw heavy El Nino rains in the 1980s, 1990s and most recently in the 2010s.

In a normal season, our city sees about 13 inches of rain. An El Nino has potential for twice that or more, which can bring street flooding, water buildup in neighborhoods, mud runoff, debris flows, driving hazards and other concerns.

As with any El Nino, it is possible we don’t see heavy rain this season. But, with a potentially historic El Nino pattern in place and strengthening, we’re getting ready and urge you to be rain ready as well.

What Anaheim's Doing

  • Checking pump stations to manage water buildup in underpasses and other low-lying areas
  • Ensuring emergency response to clear fallen trees and branches
  • Assessing areas of concern, including slopes in east Anaheim, low-lying areas of west Anaheim and others
  • Staging emergency response trailers
  • Weather monitoring and added staffing during storms

See more on what we're doing here.

Be Rain Ready

We’re ready and urge you to be rain ready as well. Start by watching weather forecasts, including city of Anaheim social media posts.

At Home

  • Clear yard drains, nearby street gutters, rain gutters and downspouts to prevent water build-up
  • Seal any roof leaks
  • Secure outdoor furniture and other items ahead of wind and rain
  • Set out waste bins a foot-plus from curbs to allow stormwater to flow
  • Have working flashlights and portable chargers
  • Renters: check with landlords about rain preparation; look for and identify issues; consider or update renters insurance

Power Outages

  • Report and monitor power outages at Anaheim.net/outages
  • Never go near a downed power line — call 911

On the Road

  • Keep your gas tank half full or more
  • Check wipers, tires, brakes and fluids
  • Pack emergency supplies
  • Avoid right-hand lanes where water builds up during rain
  • Drive carefully in the tire tracks in front of you during rain
  • Never drive into flooding

We encourage everyone to create a plan for your family should an emergency arise. Think about what you might need to bring with you in the event you'd have to leave your home.

Now is also a good time to sign up for Anaheim Alert to get important alerts and information from the city. Sign up at Anaheim.net/alert.
