Safer Students, Stronger Schools Celebration

That's a wrap! In January, CIS Dallas concluded its Safer Students, Stronger Schools campaign, supporting three initiatives:

  • Expanding program services into an additional 70 schools, serving more than 300,000 students,
  • Building a clinical division, offering one-on-one counseling, psychoeducational groups and mental health referrals to students participating in CIS services,
  • Providing Youth Mental Health First Aid classes to our school partners and the larger community at no cost; allowing us to lead trainings that educate the public on spotting the signs and symptoms of mental health needs in youth.

My Sweet Charity highlighted our closing event at Crown Block, and our campaign accomplishments in the below article. Thank you to those who financially supported this campaign and made these expanded services possible for our students across North Texas.

Join Us In March! Youth Mental Health First Aid

Youth Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based intervention training designed to help adults identify, react to and support a child (age 10-18) experiencing mental health or addiction issues or is in active crisis. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance abuse, disorders inclusive of psychosis indicators, disruptive behavior disorders, and eating disorders.

Communities In Schools Dallas is a proud provider of Youth Mental Health First Aid courses. Please join us for this eight hour certificate course, open to all adults (18 and over).

There are seats available for the March session. Sign up today! This course is offered at no cost to participants, thanks to the generosity of our Safer Students, Stronger Schools campaign supporters.

Collaborate. Communicate. Coordinate.

CIS Dallas' C3 Consortium builds alignment between for-profit and non-profit partners with a shared vision: supporting students in their academic, social-emotional, and mental well-being. These partnerships benefit the students and families we serve through volunteer projects, funding initiatives, and forums on community needs. Want to learn if your non-profit or business would be a good fit? Reach out via the button below, to schedule a brief introductory call. We hope you will join us in supporting students in your community!

Ulta Beauty Leads Three Sessions On Empowerment

Thanks to Ulta Beauty, a group of students from LV Berkner High School in Richardson ISD had the opportunity to attend three sessions on empowerment and leadership. At the third session, the group was treated to a store tour, makeovers, samples, and learned about self-care! It was a day full of enthusiasm and joy as they heard from various employees about career paths.
