Holiday Drive – Give the Gift of a Better Winter

With winter weather ahead, we are mindful of the thousands of students that Communities In Schools serves in the Dallas Region. We want to make sure that each student who needs a warm coat, hat, and gloves can receive a gift to keep them warm and healthy. Many of our students are in need of blankets, water bottles, snacks, and hygiene products. All donations directly and immediately impact the students in our community who need these resources the most.

There are three ways to give…

  1. Contact Rubi Nava at rubin@cisdallas.org to arrange a corporate or group-giving drive.
  2. Visit our Amazon shopping link to purchase items. They will delivered directly to us for distribution.
  3. Make a financial donation. The money will be spent entirely on supplies for this Holiday Drive.

We want to thank Operation Warm for their donation of winter coats to students on two of our campuses, with more gifts of coats to come! Through their generosity, and with the help of volunteers from Lennox and FedEx, more than 500 students have new winter coats. Let’s keep the warmth going!

Lights On Afterschool

Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families and communities. The effort has become a hallmark of the afterschool movement and generates media coverage across the country each year. Our ACE afterschool programs participated. Read the blog post to learn more!

Giving Tuesday

Across the country, under-resourced schools and communities simply cannot provide all of the support their students need. But together we can help!

Your Giving Tuesday contribution to Communities In Schools will connect these young people with the resources they need to succeed. Please make a gift now!

During the last school year, Communities in School Dallas served over 10,000 students located throughout 14 Independent School Districts, in eight counties, across our community. Of those students served, 69% were living in poverty, 40% failed statewide benchmark tests, 27% had limited English proficiency, and 5% failed core-level courses.

Our model of a tiered support system offers students a suite of services through individualized care. Of those CIS managed students:

  • 81% improved in academics
  • 97% of high school seniors graduated from 12th grade
  • 99% of students were promoted to their next grade level
  • 100% of CIS Dallas students remained in school

Help us continue our work throughout this 2023-2024 school year to ensure that every student served can thrive in school and have the opportunity to excel afterward. Will you support us with an end-of-year financial contribution? Every dollar donated becomes the support that’s needed for a student's long-term success story. It's more than a mere monetary contribution; it’s an investment in a brighter, more equitable future for our youth. Donate to CIS Dallas during this holiday season and help students gain the support of their gracious community. Give today and help kids stay in school.

The Push

Our final story comes from the CIS National Office. We hope you will find in inspiring and meaningful.

As a proud supporter of Communities In Schools, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating the release of the new documentary, The Push. This short film follows the journey of a student named Ja-Mez who is about to graduate from high school, an event that once seemed impossible until he came under the wing of Darrell Smith, a caring Communities In Schools site coordinator in Georgia. Watch this success story today and you’ll see why we're #AllInForKids
