Nature Walk & BioBlitz!
On Friday, September 13th, IRC in collaboration with Miami Beach Botanical Garden and supported by the Miami Beach Rising Above grant, guided a nature tour at North Beach Oceanside Park in Miami Beach. It was such a fun walk within the tropical hammock and beach dunes and we discussed the importance of coastal conservation. Volunteers learned how to identify coastal native plants, the importance in building a biodiverse dune system and how a biodiverse dune can help protect from storm erosion!
We are so thankful for continued support from Riki Bonnema, horticulturalist, from the Miami Beach Botanical Garden.

Simultaneous Ecological Restoration Volunteer Events!
On Saturday, September 14th, we had the privilege of hosting two events simultaneously that brought together volunteers committed to making a positive impact on two of our most fragile ecosystems.
Event #1 was held at South Pointe Park in Miami Beach where our Conservation Program Manager, Liz Dutra worked alongside 15 volunteers to install many native plants such as Beach Jacquemontia, Sea-lavender, and Seaside joyweed. Our volunteers also learned about the importance of the healthy dune coastal ecosystems.
Event #2 was held at the Palmetto Bay Park in the Village of Palmetto Bay. Led by IRC's Field Supervisor, Melany Flint and our Field Technician, Jonathan Moreno. Volunteers installed native plants to enhance the biodiversity this pine rocklands and as well as remove pesky invasives.
Thank you to all the volunteers that weekend!

Ecological Restoration Volunteer Day at South Beach Park, Boca Raton.
This past Saturday, September 28th at South Beach Park, IRC and the City of Boca Raton worked together with volunteers to remove invasive Beach naupaka (Scaevola taccada). The volunteers also installed a variety of native plants to the beach dune such as Sea lavender, Beach creeper, and Seaside joyweed all while learning the importance of coastal ecosystems. Thank you to all the volunteers who joined us. This was our 8th event at with the City this year! We are looking forward to hosting events in the next coming months.

Thank you to our Monthly Sustainers who donate $25 or more each month: Barbara McAdam, Maria Rowley, Lindsay Boehner and Valerie Seasholtz.
