ELIZABETHTOWN-KITLEY - At Care & Co., all ages are welcome, “with patients ranging from newborns to 103,” says co-founder Elisabeth Meyer. Located just north of Brockville, the clinic has become a trusted healthcare provider, attracting patients from Eastern Ontario and beyond.
Operating as a preventative care clinic, Care & Co. offers services ranging from urgent care to comprehensive health assessments and screenings. Specific offerings include lifestyle management, cardiovascular and respiratory diagnostics, peri/menopause care, mental health support, and more.
“We are seeing increasing collaboration with the healthcare community. There are many ways we can work together to enhance regional healthcare and ensure the community is well cared for,” says co-founder RN Hannah McCuen. Care is tailored to clients’ needs. Pediatric care includes checkups, immunizations, and sports assessments, while urgent care provides fast and effective solutions for non-life-threatening conditions, offering an alternative to emergency room visits.
The development of the business was initiated by sisters Hannah McCuen and Elisabeth Meyer. Care & Co. is built on a legacy of entrepreneurship passed down through generations of family-run businesses in Leeds Grenville. “What makes this business strong is that we each bring different skills and perspectives,” says Elisabeth. Hannah brings extensive experience in nursing, healthcare management, and mental health, while Elisabeth specializes in business development, project management, and social services. Vital in the business development and its execution is partner, Andrea Campbell. She brings over 25 years of experience as a nurse practitioner, and is a Certified Menopause Society Practitioner.
Supporting corporate wellness is also a key focus, with workplace healthcare services designed to fill gaps. “We support local businesses by expanding healthcare options for employees,” says Hannah. Initial consultations determine each corporation’s requirements, and the fees are based on fulfilling these needs.
Current corporate services offered include employee screening for driver’s medicals, pre-employment health assessments, return-to-work documentation, health screenings, disability support, peri/menopause education, and mental wellness workshops for HR teams. By working with employers, Care & Co. aims to improve productivity, reduce absenteeism, and foster healthier workplaces across the region. “Peri/menopause education is especially important. We’re excited to offer this as part of our new phase of programming,” adds Nurse Practitioner Andrea Campbell.
Since its inception, the team has leveraged local and global networks to build strong community ties. “When we started, we knocked on doors, spoke with mentors, and sought advice from business developers. Persistence was key,” says Elisabeth.
With a commitment to high service standards, Care & Co. is redefining healthcare by focusing on quality, personalized, community-driven care. Their innovative approach moves beyond traditional models, ensuring efficiency. Their goal is to expand their impact across the region while maintaining a personalized approach. This small business has big dreams-the best is yet to come.
