Remembering Jane Thompson

By Myra Grant, former VP of Philanthropy - Pardee Hospital and Pardee Foundation

Growing up in the Panama Canal Zone with five other sisters and her parents, Anton and Azzie Holgerson, offered Jane Thompson a life of adventure and a broader view of the world. The experience also cast in stone her life-long love for the food of the area, especially plantains.

Jane and her husband, Milton, moved from California to North Carolina to be closer to his home area of St. Simons, Georgia. After moving to Saluda, NC,

Jane began working with a temporary employment agency and joined the Pardee Hospital Foundation in 1998 as its temporary campaign assistant when it embarked on its first capital fundraising effort.

Read more about the impact of Jane Thompson's life here.

The best way to remember Jane and her achievements at Pardee Hospital Foundation is through a gift to the Women Helping Women fund,

which provides financial assistance to over 200 patients per year with breast cancer and other women’s health issues.

UNC Health Pardee Teammates:

Giving Gratitude with Gifts to Pardee Hospital Foundation

By Michelle Reynolds,  Administrative Director, Support Services

I was excited to learn that the Foundation implemented the Sharing and Caring Pardee Giving Society, and I am now a proud member.

Joining and supporting the Giving Society is a way to give back to the community and foster a sense of camaraderie among team members. For me, joining the giving society demonstrates my commitment to the mission and aligns with my values of giving back to the community with a meaningful impact.

I participated in the Foundation's Hour of Pay Giving and the Cancer Center Campaign years ago. I see how my contributions improved lives in our community, and I am proud to work for a hospital that focuses on improving the health of our communities.

I can’t think of a better way to give, knowing my contribution will support hospital equipment, facilities, and medical technology to advance health and community well-being.
